GTA V on a Quadro

PercySavageEG
Go to solution Solved by Briggsy,

The K4000 is basically a downclocked 650Ti Boost with more memory (or a 660Ti with half the shaders disabled, its hard to tell with the die size thing). aside from flashing the bios to a 650Ti Boost or 660Ti (if that's even possible), or throwing a better cooler on it.... I would not expect the k4000 to handle GTA5 that well.

k4000-3.gif gtx650ti-boost-gpuz.png MSI-GeForce-GTX-660-Ti-GPU-Z.jpg

just asking, I'm planning to get GTA V for pc when it comes out but my new pc is a workstation rig that I sometimes will use for gaming and it will have a single quadro in it (not sure which one is it because I'm still waiting to get one when a film production company here holds a garage sale for their old stuff but from what I heard from a friend who works there, it's probably going to be a Quadro k4000) so I want to ask, how will a k4000 fare in GTA V? Comparing its performance with GTX cards, where does it stand?

I could be wrong but as far as I know the two aren't directly comparable as they're designed for completely different work loads. Would it have space for a GTX card too?

It is a GK104 card ... performance should be about the same as a GTX670/760

Just because the core is the same does not mean it will perform the same in gaming as GeForce cards of the same core and similar clockspeeds.

@PercySavageEG in games the K4000 will perform roughly close to an HD 7790

I'm aware that they are really different but I'm only interested in the gaming performance right now and the board will be able to accommodate another GTX card (x99 E WS and an I7 5820k so 7 pie slots) but that would mean I need to get an extra monitor for gaming plus at least $300 for a 970 (one of the only gtx cards that I think is worth it right now) and I don't really have the money to do that

It is not confirmed that I will get a k4000, that is just the most common one that they have right now, I might even get k4200 or k5000 if I'm lucky or if I'm unlucky, i might only be able to get something like a NVS card but who knows, thanks for the info btw

ok, I'll keep that in mind, if I have some money left, I might have to spend some on another GTX card to game

But the drivers aren't optimized at all, so no.

I missread, the K4000 only has 768 active cores.

the K4200 has 1344 cores and performs only a bit worse than a 760 (1152 cores)

lol, nice try xD it would land at around $500 for a GTX 970 Asus STRIX ( I can't find a reference card). btw, it's properly said like this:

ở Việt Nam thì GTX 970 giá bao nhiêu? (how much does a GTX 970 costs in Viet Nam?)

may I ask why you need a quadro card? for 10bit output?

Yes, and for the added stability and reliability and besides, I can probably find quadros that land in the $300-$500 range so why not? ( I originally planned to get either a GTX 980 or a Titan Black but they are way too expensive to get in Viet Nam and used Quadros in good condition here can be pretty cheap if you know the right person to talk to)

If it's K4200 or K5000, then it would perform much better than K4000 in gaming because it's using a big GK104 chip. but If you wanna go ultra setting, get a GTX970 which has more than twice the gaming performance of those quadro. P.S. GTX970 is only cheap in US

are you half/born Vietnamese or did you learn it by yourself? either way, bravo because I have relatives who lives in Poland and the US who are born in Viet Nam but after a few years living in foreign countries, they can barely speak or write Vietnamese now

I was born Vietnamese in Vung Tau, we moved to Canada when I was 2 and have lived here since with only occasional visits. I still speak Vietnamese with my parents so I can speak it fluently. I don't know how to read or write it because I've never bothered learning, living in Canada learning English was more important. I can read it somewhat now through figuring it out on my own but I can't write it for shit

ok thanks for the info I'll take note of that, btw i just want to ask: If I were to get a GTX 970, is there a way for me to only use 1 monitor for both cards and then switch between the card inputs quickly when I need (from between when editing and when playing games) without having to unplug the input of one card and then plugging the other one in? Because I don't think I have the money to get another monitor to dedicate to the GTX card

Yes I'm Vietnamese. That's not bad actually, about the same price as they are here in Canada. Was thinking of bringing one over this summer to upgrade the computer that my family use in Vietnam, but at this price might as well just buy one there. Hopefully the exchange rate holds up until this summer.

If your monitor has two inputs you can switch between them if they're both plugged into something, but idk how you'd switch between two GPUs in the same system.

Learning how to read and write it after you know how to speak it is much harder. Alot of my foreign teacher can't read or write it at all eventhough they can speak it decently

sorry, I'm also kind of influenced by the English culture although i live in Viet Nam so my Vietnamese is not perfect either and I tried to go with the grammar structure that he used (more similar to the English structure) so it sounds a bit weird, thanks for the info on the price though and if you know a retailer that sells reference cards, can you please give me the link or address to it (I'm assuming you live in Viet Nam judging by your name, sorry if I'm wrong)

Yeah, but I've never tried at all. Some effort would have been better then none. Also idk how to write the (dau tren chu cai) on the keyboard. See some things idk how to put well in English either.... symbols above the letters?
