Congrats on the VM! How long did it take you to get running?

like 20 something minutes. I didn't use an ISO for it, bought a copy from a friend of mine who had a copy to spare. 

 

I hated having to switch disks though. Disc 1 for XP pro files, disc 2 for the Media Center program and that wonderful Luna GUI, and I had to put disc 1 back in for the service pack 2 install. But alas, it still worked. ^^

Not sure why you would do that though. Even "fun" has it's limit.
For me it was "interesting" for about 2 hours when I installed WinXP Pro in a VM, just enough to install all the updates and sh*t. Haven't touched it in months.

I remember getting excited about installing Windows XP on my old Compaq PC that I had. Haha, those were the days! :D

I might see if I can get a copy, xp is the only version of windows that lets me watch and record on my tv tuner and a dedicated multimedia OS will be nice.

XP isn't too bad for games, but it does run slower on the newer hardware and rarely works with directx 11. I personally prefer Win 7 for gaming now as when running in classic mode it only uses 65MB vRAM (I've had xp using as little as 8MB) and on my OC rig it uses less than 1GB RAM.

I've run into an issue, apparently, even though file transfers are enabled and VM guest addition are installed, I can't transfer files. The transfers are bidirectionally enabled. Host to guest/guest to host doesn't work either when enabled.

If you're one of the lucky souls who purchased a copy of XP 64-bit, yeah. If your drivers don't cock up. 

But XP 64-bit is amazing.

If you have issues, do what I did and rig up a P3 rig for xp and previous. I found that is was a lot more convenient than having to mess around with a VM, plus I was able to install my old Dos games off their floppy disks.
