Time zones are funny. The U.S. for example. Right now it's 2015 on the east side but here in central it's still 2014. Central part of U.S. wasn't made before East so which is it really? 2014 or 2015. I haven't looked into time zones that much but if there is an "original" time zone as in the one the others are differated from, what year is that time zone in. 2014 or 2015?

There are basically 4* types of timezones that combines the US and Canada; that is PST EST Mountain and Central. I am from Asia which is UTC+8 and its already 2015 more than 13 hours ago.

Edit add-on, right now the only US/Canada zone which reached 2015 is EST which probably is your timezone.

UTC is the only one that has 0.00+, but I do believe there is no 'first' timezone. And it is in 2015.

So then it is 2015 technically everywhere!

Well there was that time that Britain decided it was going to take over the whole world and then that it would define the centre of the world as Greenwich....

And for the record in Greenwich it's currently 2015.

UTC is based off GMT, and the fact that British clockmakers were the first to develop clocks that could be brought on ships and wouldn't lose time, as well as developing super accurate clocks.

So, really, the "first" time zone is GMT. The reason we have UTC is because of Daylights Saving Time
