Which MOBO should I get?

Go to solution Solved by ZetZet,

900? Nvm... Get a i5 and a GTX 970 and a cheap mobo

OK, so a 4690K. What other parts should I get? I've got about $900 for the whole PC.

Motherboard: ASRock Z97 Extreme3 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  ($104.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: Crucial MX100 128GB 2.5" Solid State Drive  ($62.99 @ Amazon)
Video Card: Gigabyte Radeon R9 290 4GB WINDFORCE Video Card  ($249.99 @ Newegg)
Case: NZXT S340 (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case  ($59.99 @ NCIX US)
Total: $891.55
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

970 did not quite fit, or I couldn't fit it in.

I want to put an AMD FX 9590 in my new PC. The only problem is that it only fits in really BAD motherboards. I can't find a single AM3+ motherboard that has even 1 PCIe 3.0 x16 slot, only 2.0. That means that I'd have to cripple my graphics card just to be able to use the better CPU. Should I get a weaker CPU and a good motherboard, or should I allow my motherboard to cripple my graphics card?

OK. I can only afford an AMD CPU, so what AMD CPU should I get instead?

If you can afford the 9590 you can afford the 4690k and the money you save on not buying a crazy beefy board could even get you an I7-4790k. Give us your total budget and we will give you an appropriate build

RIG: I7-4790k @ 4.5GHz | MSI Z97S SLI Plus | 12GB Geil Dragon RAM 1333MHz | Gigabyte G1 Gaming GTX 970 (1550MHz core/7800MHz memory) @ +18mV(Maxed out at 1650/7800 so far) | Corsair RM750 | Samsung 840 EVO 120GB, 1TB Seagate Barracuda | Fractal Design Arc Midi R2 (Closed) | Sound Blaster Z                                                                                                                        Getting: Noctua NH-D15 | Possible 250GB Samsung 850 Evo                                                                                        Need a console killer that actually shits on every console? Here you go (No MIR/Promo)

This is why you should not get an FX CPU for ANY scenario other than rendering on a budget http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/286142-fx-8350-r9-290-psu-requirements/?p=3892901 http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/266481-an-issue-with-people-bashing-the-fx-cpus/?p=3620861

I don't see how you can't get intel cpu. i5 4460+ H81M-HDS will run games better than any amd chip.

A 9590 is aound $240.

Which is more than the price for a 4690K. And the price of an AMD mobo with the VRM support for all 8 blazing hot cores will cost the same as a decent z97 board.

I'll rearrange a bit to fit the 970.

Yes. I want to be able to play most modern games at 1080p on high/ultra settings at upwards of 40 fps.

I tries to lower the price as much as possible before rebates:

You can build off of it and make changes if you don't mind rebates. I wouldn't want to pay $1000 and get $100 in rebate cards but that's just me.  :P
