Tegra 3 vs. Tegra 4?

So I'm stuck in this position where I would like to buy an Asus tf700 Tablet with a Tegra 3 processor. Everything I've heard about tegra 3 is good news.  It'll perfor just fine with HD video and any other internet tasks or games I would need it to do.

But I'm also seeing HUGE performance gains in Tegra 4 so what should I do?  Just wait and see what's what?  When exactly are we going to be getting tablets? I've seen companies announcing tablets but I don't believe there are any confirmed release dates. I iz confuzzled :(

If you want to game on something you would be better of with a Shield (http://shield.nvidia.com/) or a Tegra 4 tablet but otherwise I'm not sure if you gain anything else over Tegra 3 except maybe battery optimization.

Also Tegra 4 should drop the price of Tegra 3.

I won't be gaming on the tablet much. Battery life would be a good factor but I'm really wondering if the processor in the tegra 4 will just be so much better than than the tegra 3 that the current transformer won't be worth buying

Tegra 4 will have TWICE the performance than Tegra 3. Graphics wise is SO much different.

I think the bigger issue with the TF700 is the slow NAND memory it uses that really hurts it's performance.

please wait for tegra 4 its just funny how much faster it is than tegra 3

the HTC X+ is a tegra 3

also the new snapdragon 800 is almost as fast as the tegra 4

they are right around the corner

Those benchmarks don't look right, the S3 and Optimus G are too low for starters

ofcourse they are the s3 used a quad core a9 chip

all the new cores out there are A15 or Like-A15

What nobody has yet mentioned here is the fact that Tegra 4 has almost double the TDP of Tegra 3 and no more than 3 design wins which are far from release. I doubt we can get our hands on tegra 4 tablets before Q4 2013. @OP: Get a snapdragon 800 tablet when they get out or get the Xperia tablet Z if you want something to buy right now. The TF700 would be a good choice only if you really need the docking station. The tablet Z also has a great advantage above the non-nexus tabs in it's XDA community. It won't get outdated just because the OEM decides it's had enough updates.

First of all the link for those benchmarks you linked don't even mention the same results as the ones in the picture,  http://blog.gsmarena.com/htc-one-benchmark-scores-are-here-ready-to-blow-your-mind/ they are more realistic

If you actually look at antutu's at http://antutu.com/view.shtml?id=75 and http://antutu.com/view.shtml?id=2079 they correspond to gsmarena's results on the actual page

So now something completely different. If I'm gonna have to wait til like Q3 to get my hands on a tegra 4 tablet anyway, should I just go with a laptop? I need something for school and really, either will work. Just asking around for advice, so everyone's input always helps

if you need to do ANY type of office editing, get a laptop. No office suite on the play store is even close to the Microsoft one.

The Pages/Numbers/Keynote package on iOS is actually really good, almost as good as Microsoft Office and better in some ways
