I have a $3,000 Budget build gaming system, Which I will be usin for Gaming, Streaming, and Making some You tube videos, minor stuff nothing too crazy, Will be using a dual monitor 144hz Set up.

Here is the first a i7-490k Build (Stays within budget)

http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Brama/saved/VrFH99

and the 2nd a i7-5820k build (Goes a 140 over base budget, but coems down to being only 77 over after savings)

http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Brama/saved/tmsj4D

So which build would be best and most effecient for the Job?

The case in both of them are terrible, i'd strongly advise against a phantom. Putting your build in a cardboard box would end up being sturdier.

But seriously, they're both practically the same. I'd go for the 5820k just for that better future proofing, as the 1150 socket is already a generation and two chipsets in.

Specs: 4790k | Asus Z-97 Pro Wifi | MX100 512GB SSD | NZXT H440 Plastidipped Black | Dark Rock 3 CPU Cooler | MSI 290x Lightning | EVGA 850 G2 | 3x Noctua Industrial NF-F12's

Bought a powermac G5, expect a mod log sometime in 2015

Corsair is overrated, and Anime is ruined by the people who watch it

Are you just cutting together gameplay for videos?

Why such a large case and what's with the crappy speakers?

This belongs in the New Builds and Planning section. I'm moving the thread--Build Logs is for showing off your build progress/pictures.

If you ever need help with a build, read the following before posting: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/3061-build-plan-thread-recommendations-please-read-before-posting/

Yes I will be cutting together gameplay for videos, doing highlights, montages, stuff like that.

I picked the large case, Cause one I liked the look of the case, 2. I have really big hangs, bigger case would help with installing but thats minor obviously, 3. the big Case is very good for ventilation.

and the krappy speakers are because speakers are lowest priority for me. I will buy better ones later.

And my apologies, I didnt see a New Build/Planning thread. T/y for moving

Why do you feel the Panthom is such a horrible case? I read many good things about it and NZXT is suppose be one of the better case makers

NZXT cases are fine, i own an H440, but seriously, the phantoms are all plastic and honestly just really mediocre in build quality. A computing stereotype is cats like to sit on top of the towers, that would be impossible with a phantom because the cat would probably just crush it.

Lol, well Panteks is definitely a great case for the Price, I think I will go with it, just maybe the white one, so it doesnt look us dull. Really like all the feature it comes with tho.

I was also looking at the CM  Storm Trooper, and the CM Storm Enforcer, I really like the look of the Enforcer what do you think about those two cases compared to the Phanteks Enthoo Pro

Phanteks Enthoo Pro is about a million times better than either of those other two cases. The Enthoo Pro is an incredibly good case, whereas the other two are both relatively cheap.

No problem, the last thing i want to have is someone to post a rant about how they made a mistake about their case in off topic :P

Larger cases have more ventilation but worse airflow due to the increased distance air is needed to travel before it circulates through the case.

Considering your healthy budget and usage being gaming, you should definitely get better speakers. Good sound contributes much more to the user experience than some needlessly more expensive internal components.

Why do you feel the Panthom is such a horrible case? I read many good things about it and NZXT is suppose be one of the better case makers

It's a needlessly huge case. I have a Phantom myself but the size of the Phantom 820 is silly despite the nice features.

The Trooper and Enforcer aren't nearly as good and updated as the Enthoo Pro.

Are you going to be editing/streaming often?

The saved parts list links are broken. I'd suggest using permalinks to avoid this issue in the future.

K, I thought I was using Permlink, Guess I was using the edit link here is the Perma link for the Build I am going with

http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Brama/saved/VrFH99

that is the i7-4790k

Here is the i7-5820k equivalent of the current i7-4790k build

http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Brama/saved/tmsj4D

I choose the 4790k because its the best of it's generation, and the money I save staying with the 4790k just gives me money to spend else where (Like getting better speakers like u mentioned or save for unexpected costs that may occur later)

I really want to get a Gaming headset the Astro A50 in particular, As the quietness the headsets offer are very much preferred for my current living situation. So that's why Im not spending much in speakers as I really wont be using them to there full potential.

But just for the sake of it do u have any really good cost effecient nyce quality speakers u may recommend for me to research?

I plan on streaming everyday, editing I will just be getting into so I have alot of learning to do, but once I get the hang of it and into a groove I hope to produce alot of highlights and videos regularly.

In regards to gaming headsets:

There isn't a need to go with the 5820k for what you're doing.

I'm not in the dark about audio but I'm in no way an audiophile. I'd suggest going to the Audio sub-forum for more in-depth recommendations.

Could be cheaper: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/V2B9XL

Is the optical drive really necessary?

Windows can be installed via usb. Many people don't need to use CD's anymore.

The Shadow Rock Slim is fine for a decent gaming oc and the BenQ has a better looking panel.
