Hi, i am getting my new benq xl2411z tomorrow but i heard a few people say that unless im playinh with it at only 60hz i should not use HDMI, is this true and why?

HDMI 1.3 supports 1080P @ 60Hz and HDMI 1.4 supports 1080P @ 120Hz.

 

So either way for a 144Hz monitor to get the most out of the monitor's capabilities it is better to go with a DisplayPort.

Oh I looked at the monitor it does not have a DisplayPort...

 

You can connect it to the DVI to get the 144Hz

I'm using HDMI with my monitor 1080P 75Hz. Is there any reason that works?

HDMI 2.0 can do 1080p 144Hz perfectly fine. Just because the monitor doesnt have an HDMI 2.0 port doesnt mean that HDMI cant do it.

it's the same signal. Dvi doesn't carry audio though.

Oh right okay, the specificatio of my nonitor just says that the box contains DVI, does it not matter what type of DVI it is? do they all support 144hz?
