Can I get feedback on this as my first build?

Hey everyone, Im interested in starting to save up for a really good, high end, high budget gaming desktop, but this would be my first build so I need some insight as to if any parts Im interested in getting are wrong or others could be better. I have been watching several build videos including the ones Linus put out. I have put together a wishlist on amazon and newegg of the parts Im interested in getting for the build, I'll post the links as well as list out each part here. Im aiming for a build between $1500-2000, which the list I put together adds up to just under $2000.

Can anyone please give me pointers, tips, etc. on this build? I would love some insight on the best sites/places to get these parts, as well as anything Im overlooking (besides periferials, they are for another time), like what parts I shouldnt get or what could be better for what Im aiming to do and complement each other.

-ASUS SABERTOOTH Z87 LGA 1150 Intel Z87 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard (love the sheild, waranty, design/layout, and durability)

-EVGA 04G-P4-3687-KR GeForce GTX 680 FTW+ w/Backplate 4GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card (maybe even a 780)

-Rosewill CAPSTONE-650-M 650W Continuous @ 50°C, Intel Haswell Ready, 80 PLUS GOLD, ATX12V v2.31 & EPS12V v2.92, SLI/CrossFire ...(something with plenty of power for everything (I hope this is enough) but I want to take advantage of the haswell lower power states too)

-Intel Core i7-4770K Haswell 3.5GHz LGA 1150 84W Quad-Core Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics BX80646I74770K (would like to get a good, new gen CPU)

-CORSAIR Vengeance 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 Desktop Memory Model CMZ16GX3M2A1600C9 (want good quality, good speed, high capacity cards)

-Corsair Force Series GS CSSD-F180GBGS-BK 2.5" 180GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) (as of right now a mix of SSD and HDD seems best, sizes can vary)

-Seagate Constellation ES ST1000NM0011 1TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Enterprise Hard Drive (atleast 1TB of storage for games and videos, probably get more later)

-LG Black 12X Blu-ray Combo Drive SATA Model UH12NS29 - OEM (probably least nessessary, but if I anything I want top)

-Noctua NH-U12P SE2 120mm SSO CPU Cooler (I recall seeing these as great coolers and would like to get a mid sized one I can rely on to be plenty of cooling for the CPU, something to fit with the RAM too)

Im not exactly looking to cut out on quality,  but if an item has a cheaper, but effectively the same power, counterpart than I'd appreciate a notice to that. like, if I chose something thats going for a excessively high price for little gain over a cheaper product (such as comparing a $1000 Titan to a $650 GTX 780)

For the PSU don't go rosewill get Corsair, ANTEC, Seasonic, or Sliverstone. The HD you have picked is a server grade drive go with a Seagate Barracuda or WD black.

You can use http://pcpartpicker.com/ to locate the best prices for your choices. Do you have a monitor, copy of windows, applicable mouse/keyboard/speakers/headphones, extra case fans etc? I often forget these can be forgotten when budgeting :)

As above, a WD black 1TB would give you the same warranty and MTBF as the seagate one but at a lower pricepoint

Are you not entertained!?

Thank you very much, the site is exactly what I had in mind and the system build thing seems like just what I need to get a over all look at what I will need for the build.

like I said in the post, I wasnt going to worry about periferals such as monitor or keyboard just yet, I wanted to get the main part of the build situated on price first, but I do know its something I really should get from the start, Ill add them in soon then

Go to NCIX or Newegg there is a lot on info on parts at these retailers and if you find something you like check reviews. I recommend PC Perspective they have great PSU reviews.

planning what your going to buy now is kind of pointless unless your planning on getting it all really soon cause all these parts can change by the time you save up enough

Edit: also for the video card you should get a 770 instead cause its basically a 680 but with the Graphics ram clocked at 7000mhz

you might want a slightly better power supply too this one will keep you system nice and quiet as the fan won't spin till it goes over 30% load
         http://pcpartpicker.com/part/corsair-power-supply-ax760i

you also might want to take advantage of Haswells memory controller and get a faster kit of ram
I've got these and they are awesome even though I'm not on the new chipset.

Ok, Ill have to look into that, I think Im going to head to bed for now, Ill pick this up later. which yes, I dont have anywhere near this kind of money yet, I am going to start saving all spare money I have from now on for it, so Ill estimate atleast a few months, more like end of year to next year time span. I realize that I will have to come back to the parts planning when the time comes, I just wanted to get the planning started now so I have a good Idea how much I need and what parts to look into, so I am good and ready for when I really do get it.

Im thinking the prices right now are where I want them to be at so anything more expensive is going to be harder for me to warm up to, considering Im expecting to put $2000 into this already. Ill have to look more closely into GPU and PSU while I wait.

I don't believe the Corsair Carbide Air 540 is available yet, however you can order it on their website.

For gaming, you don't need an i7. An i5 will do.

This: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/18jU3

plus your case will do much better for gaming.

@Tyler S, yes, I was just stating I couldn't find it on the listings yet but I did add it to the system build as a custom Item for now to have a filler price. I dont see myself getting this build anytime soon so it may be available through retailers by the time I do finally start to build this system but I as you said, I can always order it from the site.

@WoodenMarker, well I'll consider the drop in tier for the CPU and such, but I am really adament about the motherboard (and case, those 2 are my favorite part of the build). the bump up in graphics card would be nice though.

here is the most recent build link (does the build list change as I change it, so i dont have to keep linking it?)

ok, so I will definitely be using this build for gaming but I am a multimedia major too so I will likely be using this build for applications such as premiere and 3ds Max. do you still suggest I drop the CPU down to i5 or would I notice a significant difference in those more memory intensive programs? I looking it up for a sec and an article showed a 23% increase in performance from the i7 over the i5 in programs like this, so should I stick with the better CPU or is it not worth it?

here is a changed up version of my list with a few different items, by cutting costs in other areas I was able to bump the GPU up to the GTX 780

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/18Zrz

You could instead get a xeon e3 1230 v2 which is basically a 3770 with no integrated graphics. Also, that ssd isn't that good. If you're going sandisk, get a sandisk extreme.

ok, Ill keep that into consideration. if I get a CPU without integrated graphics would my GPU just simply pick up everything that the integrated graphics would have done? and is the processing essentially the same as the i5? wouldnt cutting out the integrated graphics of a CPU kinda push the load onto the GPU and cause the GPU to take on more responsabilities? how would the non integrated graphics CPU compare to the other on programs like adobe premiere?

You use a dedicated OR an integrated graphics solution. If you use a dedicated graphics card at all, not having one would not matter.
