  1. I have a 128GB OCZ Vertex boot drive (that I store some other things on) and a 1 TB WD Black drive for storage. Wanted the fast boot times and application load times from the SSD and the storage of the 1TB drive.
  2. Love Jay! Been subbed to him for a couple months now. First found him when I was trying to OC my 8350 (to which I found out my MOBO couldn't handle an OC of more than 300MHz. But now I have the Sabertooth and when I finally get some time again to try I'll definitely do it). Keep it up Jay!
  3. I just joined. It say im getting around 12,000 PPD as of right now but it is still going up slightly. I have an 8350 and a 7950. My Crossfire Bridge died so once the new one gets here I'll be able to have 2 7950's running. But it says that my GPU is "Paused: waiting for idle". I right-clicked and chose "Fold" to see if it would start, but it remained paused. Was wondering if I need to do anything? The only thing I'm running is Firefox and F@H. Nevermind, found out I still had it on medium. But even with the GPU as well, it's still around 12,000 PPD. Is it normal to be the same even though I am now using my CPU + GPU? Well, it seems my computer has answered my question once again. :P Even though it said the CPU was Running, it seems like now it is now actually working towards it and now im around 16,000 and going up slightly. One more question (that my computer won't be able to solve): Do I need to leave it running for 24 hours for it to count, or am I able to just do it for a couple hours at a time?
  4. So now on top of it taking about 2-4 tries just to get my monitors, keyboard, mouse, etc. to turn on, it is only booting into the BIOS. I looked around in the BIOS to see if something was wrong in there, but everything is still on default settings. I also tried unplugging my keyboard since I read that there could be a problem with one of the keys being stuck. That is not the case, however. Decided to give the Reset button on my computer case a go. It worked. So now I'm at least in Windows. But if anyone knows about the other issue, please help. It is quite annoying and I'm pretty sure it's not at all good for the life of my computer. Especially since this computer still needs to last through most of college.
  5. well my mobo only comes with 4 usb 2 (which im not happy about) and i use all four of them so i cant really use other ones, but its also the monitors and such.
  6. yes the bios is on its default settings.
  7. So for a couple weeks now, whenever I turn my computer on, it will turn on fine, except that the peripherals (mouse, keyboard, monitors) don't turn on the first time I turn the computer on. The computer will be on but nothing happens, and I will then have to turn the computer off with the power button, and quickly turn it back on when I see the top blue LED fans go out (I found that if I turn it off and wait a little bit, the peripherals still won't turn on). It happens every single day, and sometimes I will need to turn the computer on and off a couple times for it to work. I'm not sure what could have caused it, but it's really annoying, and I'm pretty sure it isn't good to turn the computer on and off constantly. Also, not sure if this is going to be asked or not but I figured I would mention it. All the drivers are up to date. And just in case you needed them here are the specs: AMD FX-8350 (stock speeds) Corsair H80i ASRock Extreme3 970 Mobo Dual Sapphire Radeon HD 7950 16GB Corsair Vengeance OCZ Vertex 4 128GB SSD WD Black 1TB Seasonic 850 Gold PSU Corsair Carbide 400r
  8. I have the Kraken Pro and I like them. Quite comfortable and I like the retractable mic; it's nice to be able to also use them as headphones and not have a mic sticking out of the ear cup. Audio quality is pretty good. They are somewhat big, but if you don't mind, then they are fine. A little tough to store in a bookbag or something like that if you are traveling, although the ear pieces do fold in which is nice. Other than that, don't really have much to say. I've had them for about 8-9 months and haven't had any issues with them. The mic quality is pretty good. I wouldn't say it's the best but it definitely isn't the worst. Don't really know a whole lot about the Siberia's so I can't tell you really anything that would compare the two. Hope this helped. :)
  9. Here's Linus's review of the case. It starts where he begins to talk about the top and you can see what sort of options you will have with the case. It should fit fine. http://youtu.be/k7hiVxJE42c?t=6m15s Also, are you going to be doing push/pull or just push or pull?
  10. I don't believe the Corsair Carbide Air 540 is available yet, however you can order it on their website. http://www.corsair.com/en/pc-cases/carbide-series-pc-case/carbide-series-air-540-high-airflow-atx-cube-case.html
  11. I was also having problems getting my 8350 past 4.4GHz. Although I'm using a cheaper ASRock board so I believe that is the problem. Really wish I could get the Crosshair, but alas, I have no money right now. :(
  12. That's exactly what I've heard. And unfortunately I don't have any money at the time to get a better motherboard. Also, forgot to add that when I tried 4.5, after the stress testing would fail, the computer would freeze and I would have to hold the power button to turn it off, but then I would go to turn it back on, it would turn on, but none of my peripherals would turn on, and then I would have to turn off the computer and turn it back on again. And now I'm pretty sure I've also broken the power button on my case by pushing it so many times. Now I go to turn it on and it seems to register 1 click as 2, turns the computer on, but then quickly shuts it off. Eventually I get it on. Too many problems, so little time, no money to fix any of it. Story of my life. :P
  13. So I tried overclocking for the first time yesterday and ran into some issues. I won't go into much detail, but when I got to 4.4GHz, after stress testing (prime95, small FFTs) for about 20 minutes, one of the workers stopped. I tweaked the voltage, ran it again, seemed fine, moved up to 4.5GHz, and that's when I started having problems. It seemed like no matter what I did, it wouldn't even run at 4.5GHz. As soon as I started prime 95, at least 2 workers stopped already. The temperatures were fine (I think around 65-75C). I'm using an H80i in push-pull. Obviously getting up to 4.4 isn't that great, and IMO, isn't really worth it. But one of my other questions is if anyone else with this board and cpu has had any problems. I have read in a couple other places that this board doesn't appear to be that great for overclocking (which, IMO, makes sense since it was like $85). Also, I have seen the BIOS for other boards, like the ASUS Crosshair and Sabertooth ones, and the ASRock one does not seem to have nearly as in-depth options. As of right now, I put it back to default so I won't be able to tell you any settings that I have it set to. Was kind of annoyed at the whole thing and out of rage clicked the Restore Default. :P
  14. I got 48 on 10fastfingers.com but for those of you who want to try it using an actual sentence with punctuation, try this http://app.typrx.com/. It gives you real sentences and quotes from people. I got 43 on that so not that much of a change.
