It was yesterday, I had almost all of my PC parts except for a few. I was extremely impatient and decided to install Windows 8.1 onto my SSD that had come that day. (Intel 520 Series Cherryville 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive) But how would I do this? I don't have my mobo or RAM yet. And then the idea popped into my head that I could just replace the HDD in my old HP G62 with the SSD from there. Now I realize that this is a terrible idea. It will configure with the laptop's mobo, wrong BIOS etc. Is there anyway that I can delete everything from my SSD so I can have a fresh start with the actual desktop?

You would have to hook up the SSD to a (Windows) system and format it, shouldn't take longer than a minute.

I'm going to assume you don't have another PC and you have to used your laptop:

If you plug in the HDD can you plug in another SSD? Or doesn't it have the right plugs left?

Yes, when you pop it in your desktop and install Windows you can format the SSD for a fresh install.

Why do you always die right after I fix you?

No, it only has one SATA port.

So your saying that I can do whatever with the SSD, and when I install Windows I can just delete everything?

Yup. Windows will format the drive you select and install. If you bought an OEM key, you might be SOL though.

SOL?

Would it be okay if I bypass the key entering process and let it run on trial for a bit? (Yep I have an OEM key)

I do that on most of my computers just because I'm a cheap bastard who doesn't care if I have a wallpaper.

You won't have any problems if you didn't install the drivers. Try putting it in the desktop and see if it works. Otherwise just do a reinstall.
