Customer Service Employees are People Too!

elkenrod

I don't know how it is outside the US, but here, especially during the holidays, customers are very entitled.

The last couple of weeks, I have had to deal with more unpleasant people than the rest of the year combined.  This has nothing to do with the increased business, mind you, but the it's the product of "consumerism".  For whatever reason, people shopping during the Holidays feel that the are the Queen/King of England, and if their requests (read demands) are not met, then someone should be beheaded for it.

- Credit Card/Gift card services go down from time to time... it happens, especially when servers are getting hit hard.

- UPS/Fed EX/DHL packages get delayed this time of year, especially with winter weather

- Items "sell out".  I know, shocking.  It doesn't matter how much money you are willing to throw at the situation, it's not going to make a difference.

- Threatening an employee with some sort of action if they don't do something isn't how you do business, it's called terrorism.

- If you are waiting until December 24th to get that "must have" gift for little Johnny and it's not available, then you really didn't make it a priority.

- Try asking for something nicely, you'll be surprised what people might be willing to do for you.

Just spreading the word, although most users on here seem reasonable enough people that this should all be common sense.

:)

Granted, but if you're going to be an asshole to me because of ignorance I won't hold back. :P

To be fair I use my noggin and don't create the situations you stated above.

I've noticed that many new PC Builders and gamers are very ignorant and won't listen to people of higher knowledge. But, it seems that my argument can really go with any subject.

Yeah, I worked as a temp in a supermarket for a bit and most annoying is American customers.

This isn't even nearing Christmas, but they are just persistently rude, obnoxious and can't take no for an answer.

They ask questions about the least significant products, and they won't stop asking until you say exactly what you want them to do. Listen, you don't need to know how many bones exactly is in that Salmon, I don't even know myself. If you find a bone in your salmon, either eat it or spit it out, either are acceptable. Please stop talking. Thanks.

The other niche customer who annoyed me was Eastern Europeans. Unlike Nigel Farage, I have nothing personal against them, but please. When buying meat from a supermarket, don't haggle. I can't help you, I'd have to take it out of my wages, which I'm not going to do.

Compatible with Windows 95
