I'm either getting msi 970 or asus strix 970. But how probable am I gonna get a coil whine?

And since I'm buying mine at frys, if I do get coil whine, can I just return it to frys or do I have to call asus or msi? Is there a way to fix it? Which brand am I more less likely to get it and have no problem or issues? Please don't suggest g1 , I was originally gonna get it but it's out of stock and performance difference aren't that far apart anyway especially since I'll do sli in the future.

Most retailers or manufacturers will not honor the warranty should you get coil whine(at least for that issue). There is no way to really fix it.

Limit your fps in games that are easy to run and have no fps caps on them, the gpu will be working it's ass off for those 10000 useless frames when you don't need them and that causes coil whine.

Why do people rma it?

If the retailer or manufacturer accepts it, then it's to attempt to get rid of it with another version of the same product.

There is about a 15% chance of you getting coil-whine.

It's not too common but you can return it in most cases if you purchase that extra

exchange no-questions-asked extended warranty that I always say no too at NCIX.

Or it doesn't matter if I get asus or msi, both can and have the equal chance of me getting coil whine ?

If that case, which is better and looks and performance better? Msi or asus

AFAIK, they perform about the same. What looks better is highly subjective.

All cards can have coilwhine nothing you can do about it however you can make it less by using a good quality psu.

I would go for the Asus.

Turn on V-sync. Coil whine can not be fixed permanently.

V-Sync is not a permanent fix.

I've got a Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 gaming, and even with a full overclock and under full load from the stress tester, I notice no coil wine at all. (It may be there, but if I can't hear its good, and there are headphones for a reason)
