Hello guys,

I've saved some money the last couple of months, and it's finally time to upgrade my AMD build. But I need to point out some things, before I'm going to spend my money. The budget is $2500.

The PC needs to do 2 main jobs: I need to be able to stream/record a video (gaming without streaming in 4K, with streaming only 1080p), since my friends and me do that often. And in the weekends, I do some tasks for my mother's company. Mainly editing and rendering her video's and photo's, but also maintaining her database and website. Often, she asks me to make a program that will help her.

It might sound overkill, but I want a beefy computer this time. I've bought the AMD computer a year ago, and I thought it was capable to do this jobs, but rendering is soooo slow, and my fps drops to around 15fps in games like Battlefield 4 whilst streaming.

So I've two options. I'll list the main parts, to give you guys an idea.

1550/Z97:

*Intel Core i7-4790k

*2x EVGA GTX980 SC (sli)

*Mobo for ˜ $150-$200

*16GB DDR3-1600MHz

*256GB SSD + 2TB HDD

2011-3/X99:

*Intel Core i7-5930k

*EVGA GTX980 SC

*Mobo for ˜ $225-$275

*16GB DDR4-2400MHz

*256GB SSD + 2TB HDD

I'm really attracted to the X99 build, but I can't afford a second 980. I will probably add one later, after saving a while :-) Besides that, the Z97 is already fully geared, so no worries for a while.

Your thoughts?

Kind regards,

Len

-snip-

In the X99 build change the CPU to a 5820k and that should allow you to get an additional GTX 980

RIG: I7-4790k @ 4.5GHz | MSI Z97S SLI Plus | 12GB Geil Dragon RAM 1333MHz | Gigabyte G1 Gaming GTX 970 (1550MHz core/7800MHz memory) @ +18mV(Maxed out at 1650/7800 so far) | Corsair RM750 | Samsung 840 EVO 120GB, 1TB Seagate Barracuda | Fractal Design Arc Midi R2 (Closed) | Sound Blaster Z                                                                                                                        Getting: Noctua NH-D15 | Possible 250GB Samsung 850 Evo                                                                                        Need a console killer that actually shits on every console? Here you go (No MIR/Promo)

This is why you should not get an FX CPU for ANY scenario other than rendering on a budget http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/286142-fx-8350-r9-290-psu-requirements/?p=3892901 http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/266481-an-issue-with-people-bashing-the-fx-cpus/?p=3620861

change to 5820k, there is no difference, only a bit underclocked and a few less useless PCIE lanes, only used if you are going to quad sli.
