Planetside 2 optimization tips

Jack.EXE

For a person who barely meets min spec, any tips for optomization?

In larger fights I hover at 15 fps CPU limited.

I allready have shadows off and textures at ultra, with 1600 render distance.

Anything I can do to not murder my fps in the new lattice fights? Avoiding upgrading of course.

Lower resolution and anti-aliasing.

no anti-aliasing, and lowering resolution any amount tanks my fps to 5

That doesn't make sense.

Turn the shadows to low and put the rendering at 90%. That should give you a few more fps.

If you still need more, try turning down the lights if the option is there.

Does anyone have the problem where the motion blur only works in max textures. Its bad because motion blur is quite cool in planetside 2 and max textures mess with my gpu a lot.

In short:

Lights: Low

Flora: Off

Textures Ultra - I get more FPS, it's weird, don't know if it works for everyone

They make the biggest difference without losing too much quality. Overclock if you haven't already.

That doesn't make sense.

Lowering resolution makes the CPU work harder.

Not really. Apparently the game is already CPU bound.

That's exactly why lowering resolution won't help.

I currently have:

Shadows = off

Render distance = 1600

Flora = off

Effects = low

particles = low

textures = ultra

resolution = 1920x1080

Any ideas?

I'm cpu bound, and fraps reports 15 fps while the game reports 25

If your CPU bound then something is wrong as we have the same CPU I never get that low. I don't actually know what it is or how to do it but I've heard people saying that "unparking CPU cores" helps a lot. You might want to look that up.
