Hello,

After getting bored waiting for my HDD to arrive I decided to get back into the art of Overclocking.

So you will find my Overclock at the end of this post, my question, should I aim to 5 GHZ with those temps?

(Note: My Cinebench score is low because of crappy ram)

CPU : FX 8350

Overclock : 4.74 GHZ

Bus Speed: 215

Multiplier: 22

Voltage : 1.468

Mofsets: 69

Mofsets 2: 50
Core Temp: 51

CPU Temp: 59

Cinebench R15: 717

Notes:  Voltage Reduced, Ram Speed optimized, Fans Configured

Lets all ripperoni in pepperoni

Edited the post, sorry it was a copy paste from excel...

Looks safe to keep pushing it.

Keep an eye on those mosfet temps though, they are getting pretty high, your motherboard might not be effectively cooling them. Try to keep them under 80C

You're safe up to 62 degrees on the core and a little more on the socket for long term use, but since you'll never reach stress test temperatures in day to day use I'd go for it.

Dont mofsets have a max of 130C?

@Profquast Those temps were with prime95. I have heard it overvolts.... Are the temps that high in prime95?

Depends on the quality of components used on the motherboard.

Some can do up to 110C, but thats just the component itself. There are plenty of other electronic components on the motherboard that would be damaged if the mosfets got that hot.

80C is a safe temp to prevent any bad stuff from happening :) It is possible to go over, but I would definitely not have it that hot for regular daily use.

the main question that should have been asked is what are you doing with this machine?

| CPU: Core i7-8700K @ 4.89ghz - 1.21v  Motherboard: Asus ROG STRIX Z370-E GAMING  CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i V2 |
| GPU: MSI RTX 3080Ti Ventus 3X OC  RAM: 32GB T-Force Delta RGB 3066mhz |
| Displays: Acer Predator XB270HU 1440p Gsync 144hz IPS Gaming monitor | Oculus Quest 3 VR

Well Gaming at 1080p 144hz. (I know the 2 HD 7850's cant handle it, thats why the R9 290x is on the way)

Besides gaming a LOT of web browsing and watching videos

well...bad news...theres only a handulf of games in which an overclocked FX CPU can actually push more than 80 frames per second and in most cases your 290X will be very limited by this cpu even if you could manage to overclock it to 5ghz.

The P95 overvolting problem is just with Haswell and Devils' Canyon CPU's. Prime95 does cause way higher temps than normal use though.

great...in that case i think you should consider getting a GTX970 instead of a 290X the reason being that the 970 is much more energy efficient and you will get a lot of heat from 290X crossfire and it will be a problem in the long run that you will not have if you buy into a maxwell gpu instead...just saying ;)
