Got all of my parts last night from Newegg.ca and noticed my case is broken right out of the box. It is a Bitfenix Prodigy M. Only now am I hearing about how the screw brackets that connect the handles to the chassis are usually broken on arrival and that Bitfenix customer service never responds. :/

Thinking to just RMA and get a different case all together, although this morning, Bitfenix did respond saying I should send my invoice and all that...

1. Should I wait for those replacement handles? Anyone have experience with this?

2. What are the chances of the handles breaking from the weight of an 8lb psu and whatever else is inside in the long run?

3.Do I still do an external test build on the rest of my pc parts? I don't have an extra case around to store the build into afterwards.

4. One more noob question...is a monitor necessary for building when I can just plug my HDMI cable into the tv and use said tv to test build?

Btw, this is my first build so you can imagine, I'm pretty disappointed. I never expected that the CASE would be one of the first issues I'd have to deal with.

Thanks in advance

Sorry to hear about that, its shocking that there is so much damage to the case, what was the packaging like, a couple old rags???? When there have been so many cases delivered damaged, it should never be an RMA issue, clearly the packaging is at fault.

Did they give you a timeline for getting a new case to you?

You can still do the external test, although I have never linked directly to the TV.

I really hope they get the case back to you ASAP, your first build should always be special ... its the birth of a wonderful new life!!!!!

I think I'll trust my gut and get a refund instead of wait for the replacement handles. I still have to test my other computer parts and I'd hate for it to sit out in the open without a case and collect dust.

Cases I am looking at are Corsair Air 240 vs Fractal Node 804

And Corsair Obsidian 350D vs Cooler Master N200

Have to say, I love the cube cases! Pros and cons are about equal...Hard to choose. My pc parts btw are;

i5 4690k

MSI z97i

Zotac GTX 970

Corsair CS650M

Crucial Ballistix Sport 2x 4gb

Corsair H60

1 hdd

1 ssd

Whatch'ya think? And seriously, will I fry my computer by hooking it up to the tv to test boot or and whatever next steps follow that? Probably sounds like a dumb question. Most likely will kick myself reading back on this in the future but it's my first build!!!! Ahh! :)

I used to run a laptop through HDMI for around a year and bought a new HDD and reinstalled windows and everything so it should be fine.

I'm presuming that it's just the same as a monitor as i'm guessing the monitor would be using HDMI too or DVI.

Don't really think that a TV/Monitor would do anything to your rig as it's an external product of the actual computer.

I feel better thanks!
