gtx 750ti

Go to solution Solved by Mattr567,

The i3 530 would likely somewhat bottleneck a 750 Ti, let alone a 660 Ti or 7870. You cant just slap in a GPU in a old rig and be done, thats not how computers work, its a system, there needs to be some balance.

Thats like putting a 970 in my old Athlon T-Bird system, it just doesn't end up working well, or at all in that example.

Linus once said something along the lines of upgrade at once, not in bit's of pieces over many months.

To put it simply: Do all at once, not one thing at a time. Especially since most of your hardware is pretty outdated.

so i have a dh55hc motherboard with a i3 530 2.9ghz possessor and 6 gb ram

i currently own a galaxy gt 610 gpu and i'm trying to upgrade to the gtx 750 ti either a gigabyte one or a evga one

anyway i was wondering what are the problems with the card as gaming goes

It can probably play most games low 30-40FPS 1080P. I'd recommend a R9 270 if your PSU will allow it.

750Ti is not really recommended for high-end gaming or even mid-end gaming. It's a decent entry-level card for WoW or SC or Minecraft, but other than that, not really recommended. You can buy a used 7870 on eBay for less than what a new 750Ti would cost you, and it would tear the Ti to shreds.

if possible go for a R9 270 or a GTX 660 (Ti) for a budget card, otherwise 750 Ti's not too shabby. If you got some serious dough, upgrade ALL OF IT AND THROW IN AN ASUS STRIX 970!!!!

One day I will have my GTX 970. One day. PC specs are at my profile.

Have a 750 Ti FTW here.

Its a solid card for mid-range gaming. Seeing you dont even have a 1080P monitor (You should get one) it should be fine for your purposes.

Overlocked to 1441Mhz + AMD 8-Core power to boot on BF4 at 1080P I get between 45-65 FPS (My avg around 50) on high with 2x anti aliasing

Thats not too shabby for the little Ti, but it isnt going to last your for too long considering you are starting out on the low side. Plus my CPU is much better than yours so dont expect the same numbers at those settings.

My recommendation for you: WAIT and save up more money, dont be impatient and buy now and have a rig that will be outdated fairly soon.

Also get at least a quad core, many game's require at least a quad core, some wont even attempt to run on a dual.

if your PSU can take it look for an R7 265 or R9 270 (HD7850 or HD7870 as well) instead, they both outperform the 750ti and should cost about the same maybe even less.

Your i3 will only detrimentally limit performance in games with a fairly heavy CPU load. I think it would be fine more often than not, and since a GPU can just be dropped into a new system as-is, I don't really see much problem with this.

Plus, what's your alternative? Buying an even cheaper one just so your GPU performance can be as poor as your CPU's? The 750 Ti/R7 265/R9 270 is going to be beneficial often enough that I think you'd be losing out going to a slower product. It's not like we're talking about ultra high-end products here.

So you bought the Ti, Ok.

CPU wise AMD gives a better bang for the buck right now.

For about  $110 you can get a AMD FX 6300 6-Core:  http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113286&cm_re=amd_fx_6300-_-19-113-286-_-Product

I used to have one of these, until I upgraded to the 8370 because I work with Blender, a 3D modeling/animation software that is very CPU heavy, and the 6300 couldn't keep up.

It should be great for you, games don't take up nearly as much power.

I'll be selling mine fairly soon for about $85 if you want mine.

An i3 530 is going refurbished on newegg for less than $50, it could do OK, but nothing great at all.

Also the fact that some games wont even work on a dual core in the first place. FC4 for example.

but its not just about gaming, overall PC performance is important as well and a 6300 would keep your system much smoother.
