I would suggest a 7200RPM drive and if you really want a 750W PSU (which you really don't need even if you added a second 970) then an Evga 750G2 would be my pick, otherwise a 500W PSU from Seasonic, Evga/Superflower or BeQuiet would be a better choice

This build is very, very solid, but i'd:

Change that HDD

Change that PSU for something cheaper :)

I'd change the HDD if you're storing games on it. If it's just for media storage, then it's fine.

You can get much, much cheaper equally performing RAM.

Grab the EVGA G2 750w PSU and you'll save $20.

Do you really need an optical drive?

I'd reconsider 27" 1080p. The Dell U2414H is currently on sale for $208. The money you saved from the PSU will make up the difference.
If you really want 27", consider dumping the extra funds in to pay for a quality 1440p monitor.

Aftermarket fans have little difference on the cooling of your case. I'd maybe add a couple but not go overboard like you have.
The money saved can easily be put towards a nicer monitor, that you'll actually notice.

The build looks really nice!

As was mentyioned before, see if you can find an optical drive lying around from an old PC in your house. Also, consider going with 2 r9 290s incorssfire. it'll be more expensive, but 290s are pretty cheap ATM and a pair in crossfire should give you GREAT performance

Yes. Blue and seagate barracuda are the best value ones.
