I was wondering if I need a cpu cooler or am i good with the intel stock cooler. If I just plan to game and video edit. What temperatures will it reach during gaming and programs like google chrome open and stuff like that?

Stock intel gets REALLY LOUD at full load. To save your ears some pain just grab a cheap cm hyper 212 evo.

I have a i3 with a stock cooler (Not the same thing but whateves)

I don't really notice it... Unless you listen to stuff on speakers it should matter. Id wait and save up for something a little better than the Evo.

What temperatures will it reach?.

Not entirely sure what temps on stock cooler. But if you're running it at stock clock speed and settings then when it gets too hot it'll just thermal throttle and be annoying.

Regardless for your particular application I would absolutely invest in an aftermarket cooler.

Intel i7 4790k

Do i need to overclock? What is the maximum clock I can get? And what temperatures will it reach

That CPU is pretty powerful. Even without overclocking it will get pretty hot (80C+) which will make the stock cooler extremely loud at full speed.

I recommend spending $30 to buy a hyper 212 evo which will bring your temps down a lot as well as noise.

If you want to overclock (you dont need to,but its a possibility) then you will definitely need to buy something better.

Yeah dude, I'm still using my Intel stock cooler right now ( just built my PC last Sunday) and it gets LOUD when I start up a game or do something intensive. At the minimum I would get something like the 212 Evo (yes, another suggestion for the 212 LOL). It's pretty cheap ($30) and is pretty much the holy grail for cheap, basic but efficient CPU cooling and you can even get decent overclocks on it. Personally I'm going to be buying one for my 2nd rig and putting my Noctua on my main.

Current PC build: [CPU: Intel i7 8700k] [GPU: GTX 1070 Asus ROG Strix] [Ram: Corsair LPX 32GB 3000MHz] [Mobo: Asus Prime Z370-A] [SSD: Samsung 970 EVO 500GB primary + Samsung 860 Evo 1TB secondary] [PSU: EVGA SuperNova G2 750w 80plus] [Monitors: Dual Dell Ultrasharp U2718Qs, 4k IPS] [Case: Fractal Design R5]

It is probably worth the money to just go buy a 212 Evo, you can get a lot extra out of that processor then. Otherwise you are kinda wasting some of its potential.

Do you think there is a difference in durablity and wearing out and rustiness after a few 3-4 years? between the bronze plated heatsink on the 212 evo and the The heatsink (I don't know what it is) Noctua NH-D15?
