No, the 598s are very easy to drive. You could even run them off of your phone if you wanted to.

Thanks, but do you know what type of headphones that motherboard could drive? would be nice to know its limits

I ran my Audeze LCD-2 and Senneheiser HD800's off my onboard with no issues at all, you can most likely do the same if their onboard solution is as good as the one on my Z97 M Power

It could probably drive headphones that are significantly harder to drive than this, but to get a significant upgrade over your current headphones, you would need to pay in the $300-$400 range. Then you should just get an O2 from mayflower for much better performance.

Hard to say. To know its limit, you'd have to know at least: the maximum voltage and maximum power it can output. None of them are easily found on manufacturer's specs.

Oh okay thanks a bunch.

Tempted get something a little better but sadly prices seem to be weirdly off for us in the UK The ad500x's are £150 for some reason

Go to the specification tab, and find the Audio section. Doesn't say much, does it? It's like that with most, if not all, brands.

Do you need to buy a DAC/AMP? No.

Would it be better than on-board audio? Yes.

Shot through the heart and you're to blame, 30fps and i'll pirate your game - Bon Jovi

Take me down to the console city where the games are blurry and the frames are thirty - Guns N' Roses

Arguing with religious people is like explaining to your mother that online games can't be paused...
