Help with PSU installation! Should the fan side face down or up?

Should my psu face up with the fan side or down? My pc is gonna be sitting on carpet. Is there any chance of dust going into the power supply if I put it with the fans facing downward? My case does have a filter on the bottom.

The carpet could suffocate your PSU but, it depends on your case and it's feet.

Face it up. Unless you have adequate space below the case. Besides, most PSUs don't really need that much cooling (my AX 760 hardly ever turns its fan on).

Does the case have tall feet?

If it is on thick carpet I would make it face up.

My case has feet that are about 1 inch. Is 1" between the carpet and the psu enough or should I put my psu fans facing upwards?

If you have a dust filter under the case you will be find, otherwise make it face up

You can try it out and if the fan runs nonstop or if it feels hot just flip it.
