More 4770K OCing fun :)

Well keeping me busy to overclock my 4770k on my MSI MPOWER MAX i got some good results.

Cooler i use is the H110 in pull config

How do i test.

I test in Both Intelburntest and Prime95.

Intelburntest with the very high setting 50x loop

Prime95 i test with Large FFTs and blend test both around 1 hour (short i know but effective)

I look at the temps in realtemp 3.70

Results so far:

NEW

4.60Ghz - BLCK 100.0 - Multiplier 46x - Vcore 1.360! - PIV* 2.00 - Max temp 78c!

4.60Ghz - BLCK 100.0 - Multiplier 46x - Vcore 1.340! - PIV* 2.00 - Max temp 74c!

4.60Ghz - BLCK 100.0 - Multiplier 46x - Vcore 1.320! - PIV* 2.00 - Max temp 70c! SWEET SPOT!

*PIV = Processor Input Voltage

4.70Ghz - BLCK 100.0 - Multiplier 47x - Vcore 1.440 - Max temp 90c
4.80Ghz - BLCK 100.0 - Multiplier 48x - Vcore 1.460 - Max temp 95c
4.60Ghz - BLCK 115.0 - Multiplier 40x - Vcore 1.400 - Max temp 84c
4.67Ghz - BLCK 114.0 - Multiplier 41x - Vcore 1.400 - Max temp 85c

4.60Ghz - BLCK 115.0 - Multiplier 40x - Vcore 1.390 - Max temp 81c

4.62Ghz - BLCK 110.0 - Multiplier 42x - Vcore 1.400 - Max temp 83c

4.60Ghz - BLCK 115.0 - Multiplier 40x - Vcore 1.390 - Max temp 71c - HT OFF

4.71Ghz - BLCK 115.0 - Multiplier 41x - Vcore 1.400 - Max temp 75c - HT OFF

Moore will come :)

Wow, that thing gets pretty hot!

haswell is not that hot

infact...if you have IB you can't get higher then 1.3 because temps get skyhigh so this is low temps and 80-85 i can live and accept it :)

also notice this is not a real life senario when i am gaming there is no way my cpu will hit this temp so yea this is the full stress test

why not the small fft, pretty sure that one gets the cpu hottest and keeps it within the cache so you know if the cpu itself is fully stable.

I was comparing to my Sandy CPU which I got up to 4.7Ghz with a Hyper 212 Evo with temps around 90C...maybe I just have a lucky chip.

I don't have any experience with Ivy so I don't know about that.

hehe yep already did 1.5vcore to push it to 5Ghz stable but the temps where a bit of a issue :P

lol I can get up to 4.1 - 4.2ghz on stock cooler with around 90C on my 2500K on P95 lol.

it just baffles me seeing newer processors using H100i's and H110's and taking them to 100C.

made a good decision going with Sandybridge over Ivybridge,

i5 and i7 have  diff temps because HT that is fact and always be like that

i think if i turn of HT i get lower temps going to test it now :P

just a bit,I lifted the H110 off the 4770K to see how it was doing with the pc off after letting it cool down......and....well the cold plate was missing the convex it had before I took it to 1.5v

tested temps with HT off and -10c so yea HT gives some more heat lets oc without HT for now :)

nope not gonna do it since the temps are accepted by me atm 80-85c are not high enough to delid it

well I think of it this way, delid'ing would give you 10-20C lower temps.

wouldn't it make you just giddy to see that 4770K @ 4.8ghz P95 with 70C max?

if they used the same thermal material as in the ib i can say you wont able to use your cpu at the current speeds in 6 months (dusting etc not counts) because that TIM on die is getting dry and wont do what it supposed to do (my temps at the day i bought my cpu was 12c lower than my current temps its been 8 months probably had around 3k hours of %100(4.2 1.2v) usage[i was an active boinc participant})
