Thanks for all the suggestion's. I will try to change the thermal paste.

Hi, I have an i5 2400 non overclockable processor with stock cooler. The cpu temperatures at 100% load are between 85-90 C. After cleaning the heat sink the temperature is about 80C . What could be the reason for such high temperatures. Do you recommend an after market water cooler as I dont have space for air cooling?

Buy a hyper 212 evo for $30 and you will have a much cooler and quieter PC.

Your case/airflow is really bad if you get those temps since I don't exceed 70C

I dont have space for air cooling and I plan to choose water cooling only if absolutely necessay.

then just buy some MX-4 and replace your thermal paste, that should bring temps down by several degrees.
