just use the 980s the 660 would bottleneck them and it would go downhill fast. People would die.

Just sell the 660, i wouldn't even keep it, it'll only keep dropping it's price.

if you don't need to sell it, keep it. If the cards fail on you for whatever reason, it is nice to have a backup better than Intel Iris.

I thought the same, though i didn't want to say one of the 980s will fail :P

Also i don't think it's worth it even for that.

PhysX is a gimmick, it might look nice but it's not worth it. It can even lower your FPS rather than increase it by taking the load off the main cards.

oh okay, it will work for sure, I just assumed you'd be using it for gaming

The 660 would be a capable PhysX card, the right amount of GPU horsepower really

it better to run PhysX from the GTX980s

how about grabbing 3 GTX970s?

that way you have 2 970 in SLi and the 3rd card for PhysX

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

thats what i was thinking... it wont be linked via SLI it will just be its own standalone PhysX card so it shouldnt cause problems with gpu rendering... plus i can pull the CUDA cores for rendering over all 3 card

Depends on the workload, honestly using physx on the 980s will perform pretty similarly for most tasks

In heavy workloads offloading physx to a dedicated card WILL help, but by how much I am not sure

if you can keep it cooled and you are not crippling your 980s, then I dont see why not

You can probably use that 3rd card for rending tasks too,

oh... :/

you could try your planned setup but if you notice a drop in performance when the 660 is running

remove the 660 and save it as a backup gpu
