Wrong section. But for budget Noctua NH-U9B, Phanteks Dual tower heatsink (On sale for 60 at newegg)

First off welcome to LTT! Good job at posting in the correct section. The AMD FX 8370 is a very hot card and you'll have to throw down big bucks for a cooler. I would recommend a corsair H100I or a NZXT Kraken x40, x60 0r x61.

This isn't the place for questions on your CPU?

Thanks for the help guys! I wasn't entirely sure how much cooling was required or how much I was going to have to spend on it.

I would really really really recommend some sort of water cooler. These CPU's just beg to be overclocked, and air really doesn't cut it once you start increasing the voltage.

Refurbished H100i's and what not are fairly affordable.

Phanteks PH-TC14PE handles 4.8Ghz without any problem.

Same counts for Noctua NH-D14.

If you are looking for a good aio?

Grab the Cooler Master Nepton 280L cheaper and way better then a H100i.

I realy dont understand why those H100i units still gets so much credits.

I mean look at all those pump failures lol.

The CoolerMaster Nepton 280L is the best bang for buck aio on the market right now.

Its even better then a krakan X60

Eh that's debatable lol. Theres a Cooling section, but CPU section you get more helpful results. So it really depends on the mods tbh

Edit: See. Now it's moved

lol whaaat. that is not even remotely true, especially with the decreased power draw

Like those are good coolers but they are unnecessary

I'm probably going to get an air cooler because I don't want to deal with the hassle of cleaning a liquid system xD

Seems like a stupid reason but I wouldn't trust myself to remember to do it. I'll probably go for the Phanteks PH-TC14PE.

It is not that AMD chips run hot, it is that they have less thermal headroom. I mean, sure they are a little hotter than the latest Intel chips, but Intel is always ahead by two or three process nodes.

I find that voltage plays a big role in temperature management for FX chips. I was having overheating issues with everything set to stock in my BIOS with an 8150. When I lowered the Vcore to 1.200v I dropped load temperatures by 15*C and my idle at 29*C in a room that is normally 25*C ambient.

There are some good air coolers on the market, but all in one coolers like the ones mentioned above are closed loop. You do not need to maintain them.

Wow really? I'd have imagined that any water coolers would require basic maintenance.

Well now it's just deciding between the H100i and the Nepton 280L...

You kinda need a budget to get good recommendations...

The Hyper 212 Evo is a good one.

Just remember: Random people on the internet ALWAYS know more than professionals, when someone's lying, AND can predict the future.

i7 9700K (5.2Ghz @1.2V); MSI Z390 Gaming Edge AC; Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 16GB 3200 CAS 16; H100i RGB Platinum; Samsung 970 Evo 1TB; Samsung 850 Evo 500GB; WD Black 3 TB; Phanteks 350x; Corsair RM19750w.

Laptop: Dell XPS 15 4K 9750H GTX 1650 16GB Ram 256GB SSD

Spoiler

sex hahaha

I think I would lean towards the 280L. It is a newer design. Coolermaster also designed the pump in it.

The Corsair H100i is built by an OEM that makes a lot of coolers for different brands.

That and I think that the fans on the Coolermaster are better.

Alright, 280L it is then. I thought it looked a bit newer, plus the recommendations are better than the H100i.

I figured that giving the CPU I required cooling for would be good enough. I don't really have a set budget anyway.

With a cooler like that you should be able to overlook it quite nicely.
