Seems to be a hot issue at the moment. Console game developers (and dare I say, some PC developers) are sacrificing 30fps for better graphics.

Here is the ultimate question:

Would you rather have 30fps and STUNNING graphics

or have 60fps and meh graphics

I choose the 2nd one.

Most companies think graphics are everything.

Some companies have a brain and balance the two.

And a few even manage to get their game to run at over 120fps for 120hz monitor users! Wow, what a thought!

What do you see as being more important? I'll leave it as a poll.

I want this trend to stop. I played AC:Unity completely through because I love AC, but I barely reached 40fps, and it was mostly 30fps, on my rig which is considered to be very good! And the graphics were not the best either. So In Ubisofts case, they think we like 30fps and mediocre graphics. *claps slowly*

Keep On Diggin' Ubisoft :D

45-50 fps and high graphics

And companies think graphics are everything simply because a better looking game will sell more than a game with a higher framerate.

High framerate is a must. I'll turn down all the settings until I can get an average 60fps experience.

However, I'd like the game to be optimized enough to not look like complete ass and run at 60fps.

But then again it all depends on art style. I still play the original DOOM, Duke Nukem and I just started getting into Serious Sam and the graphics don't bug me at all because the time they were created in.

This. I love the art style of games such as TF2 and CS:GO. GabeN managed to create decent looking games, while maintaining a stable framerate. 60fps minimum is a must for me

Yeah I would obviously try to go for the best balance. This may seem like the obvious thing to do but I crank everything up as high as it can go where it is playable, preferably over 60FPS minimum. It doesn't HAVE to be over 60fps, but is HAS to be smooth and not choppy or stuttering. I would not play a game on Ultra if it was skipping or choppy...I would much rather turn down the settings to something playable.

Also for your GTX770 is it a pretty good card yes, but from my knowledge (sorry don't know too much about AC for PC) that game is pretty demanding. You may need a more powerful GPU with more than 2GB vram. As per this article: http://www.geforce.com/whats-new/guides/assassins-creed-unity-graphics-and-performance-guide NVIDIA recommends at least 3GB vram and that is "recommended", 4GB would probably be best.

I understand not everyone has a 3-4GB vram GPU, in fact untill about 2 months ago I was still using a GTX 580. (970 now) Anyways I thought I would just mention that link because it appears maybe for this newer title you may have needed a little better GPU to play with the highest graphics.

Yes of course, I upgraded my PC purely to get better framerates, but bad optimization on some games are preventing me from running maxed out 60fps+ even on a really good rig. I bought my PC to be a long lasted PC, but seeing TotalBiscuit's video where he demonstrated how even a GTX 980 can't even run AC:Unity, it makes me worry that this is going to become a recurring issue.

60 FPS minimum, no exceptions.

Above 60, it really depends on the game. If it's a competitive shooter, I might drop to 1080 medium in order to get 120/144 FPS. If it's not a competitive shooter, I'll take 60 FPS with higher setttings or higher resolution.

i7 not perfectly stable at 4.4.. #firstworldproblems

Sure, but if TotalBiscuit couldn't run it with dual 980's, then no one can smoothly. It all comes down to bad optimization. The game didn't even look all too stunning, and was glitchy as hell. I'm actually playing older games now and enjoying them more than "Next gen" games xD

Honestly it depends on the game(for me). Some games I need them to be at 60 fps no matter what, but then other games I really don't don't care what they are running at. Since I mostly use "mid grade" computers, it seems like I get lower FPS at lower settings(so like a console?).

I increase the fidelity of my games until they no longer meet my required framerate target, there are special exceptions to this rule but the alternative has to be not playing at all for me to accept 30FPS or absolute garbage graphics.

I know I'm in a minority, but I have an OCD about turning graphics WAY down to get high framerates; it bugs me to know that it could look way better.

I'm not the only one xD. I did this for Watch Dogs, but I never really played it thoroughly, too buggy ;_;

Oh ya, I agree. It appears Ubisoft games are pretty shit on PC and optimized poorly. I just thought I would share that article, but yes I'm not surprised to hear that dual 980s still have issues lmao. Far Cry 4 plays terribly for me on my GTX970. I'm building my new rig now (specs in sig) I'm hoping my update will improve my gaming but Ubisoft games might be doomed to always be shit until they optimize better.

because of my pre built and minecraft past, i can play games at 15 FPS. no joke, my old system, a amd e 450 apu could run minecraft with optifine on lowest settings at 15 FPS.  so i'll take the 30 FPS and stunning graphics.

Depends on the game.

I would never play Battlefield in 30fps but I'm totally fine with running AC:U at a 30fps

whilst it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be, comparing AC:U at 30fps to 60fps is crazy. I actually played through the whole game at 720p just to get decent framerates ;_; But yeah, on the whole, the 30fps experience wasn't making my eyes bleed or anything, but It was frustrating at times.
