Hey guys,

Sheepy here, I've been planning my PC for a month or so now and have gotten quite a lot of advice from people on how it is and I've improved it a bunch (link at bottom, please check it out with advice if got any). So now I've got it all setup, now I don't need anything else... apart from a good keyboard. I'm looking for mechanical and there's a large debate between the Razer Blackwidow Ultimate and the Corsair K70 (not really into the RGB versions as much but I really like the reactive with the Razer). So what should I go with? Razer or Corsair? Razer has their own custom switches which are okay, but a bit too clicky while Corsair have the MX Reds and MX Browns.

Options:

Razer Blackwidow Ultimate (2014)

Corsair K70 Cherry MX Red

Corsair K70 Cherry MX Brown

What I will be doing:

1. Gaming, lots of it!

2. Some typing and doing forum posts, chats, discussions etc.

3. Surfing the web and going on facebook etc.

So, any advice?

Not Razer,

How do you feel about ducky? ~Logictech and CM storm stuff? Also where do you live, maybe massdrops an option for you?

The k70 (non rgb) led are going to blow out, most likely the same with the razer.

Go with Corsair, Razer keyboard is just not up to the standard. I do the same thing as you, gaming, typing, surfing web, so I'd say go with CMX Brown. I own Quickfire TK CMX brown. For me, if I want a full size keyboard, I would go with ducky shine 3, or Trigger Z if I feel like I want the macro keys.

the razer keyboards have there own switches which are kind of like cherry switches but different, i also like the browns over the reds but that is because i like the tactile bump in the middle of the key activation,

so k70 w/ browns would be what i would go with

Thank you @kwljunky, @XTankSlayerX, @GriggsCK and @athesean1 for your replies so quickly.

So, what keyboard would be a good option? Give me some really good keyboards for a decent price (not like super high like 250 USD or something, around 130 USD). Could someone list me some really good Cherry MX Brown keyboards and what they use or preferences?

Are you in the U.S? I can suggest some good brands, btw, are you looking for flashy gaming branded stuff? Or A nice mech keyboard?

Also have you heard of massdrop << cheaper good keyboard, but may take a while to get to you, but they have a decent selection most of the time.

I personally ordered a Cherry mx Green Keyboard from WASD keyboards Code v2 from the states to the uk. This was after I returned the k70 blue mx, LED's failed and the corsair RMA...was beyond a joke.

No, I'm not in the US. Also, haven't heard of massdrop. I looked it up, I'm not sure I like any of that stuff.

So are ducky keyboards good?

Blues are good for typing or gaming or both? What mainly? Also, how much is the 3?

Shine 3 comes with solid colored LED's.

Shime 4 has red/blue ones, just like the Ducky Mini. Meaning that you can have anything from solid red or blue, pink, purple, magenta, etc.

Legend is more like the Shine 3. But has a 5mm thick aluminum top plate.

If anyone can find me a really good deal for the keyboard and send me the link, that'd be awesome. I can't find any on amazon.. :(

EDIT:

I think I'd prefer to have brown switches on a ducky shine 3, if anyone can find links to a good deal on the ducky shine 3 with brown switches and blue/magenta LEDs I would be sooooooo happy.

Are ducky keys extremely clicky like the Razer Blackwidow Ultimate because they have some really annoying clickiness to them...

Ducky uses cherry keys, so they are the same as the MX switches from other keyboard makers.

Basically Razer uses cheap switches made from a company in china that basically copies the cherry switches. So it's cheaper for them, they charge the same price, whilst giving you an inferior product.

The cherry switches are made in germany:

So in a nutshell the cherry brown from the K70 is the same switch that will be in a ducky cherry brown keyboard, just the keyboard is different.

That's the shine 3.  I think the shine 4 will be out soon, If I was in your position, I would wait to buy that if you wanted a ducky. :)

Okay, I get it now. I've looked over those two videos already and it seems that it is a very good keyboard. But what is the average price for a Ducky Shine 3 Cherry MX Brown with Blue LEDs... If you could find a really good deal for it, I'd be super happy.

Thanks a bunch  :)
