Gaming on a 16:10 Monitor?

LarsReviews

This is mostly with console ports and the console first engines.

Actually its nearly every game with a normal camera

its in crysis & Metro as examples of a PC first games

basically when you select 90 FOV it actually punches in the vFOV value equivalent, so taller screens lose a bit of FOV

Intel i5-3570K/ Gigabyte GTX 1080/ Asus PA248Q/ Sony MDR-7506/MSI Z77A-G45/ NHD-14/Samsung 840 EVO 256GB+ Seagate Barracuda 3TB/ 16GB HyperX Blue 1600MHZ/  750w PSU/ Corsiar Carbide 500R

Thats kinda just an aspect ration thing. BF2 didnt allow widescreen resolutions initially because the the advantage. So yea a wider monitor gives you a wider view. On console posrts it basically crops it and moves the UI a bunch but on some you get letter boxing. I forgot what Far Cry 3 had but I remember it had a setting for is, as did Bioshock. If you didnt use it everything was stretched and distorted in both games.

i think you mean FC2, i was playing it recenty, it has a similar check box to Bioshock, FC3 has an FOV slider

All I recall is some setting to enable the letter boxing on 16:10 otherwise you had a vertically stretched image.

I'm greifing, don't mind me.

Honestly that monitor looks taller than it does wider, strangely enough. Depending on the size/price I might consider it. I'm using a 144Hz TN panel as my main monitor for gaming, and that's not changing any time soon, I'm in love with the higher refresh rate. If it's going to be the right size that it'll look ok on my desk, I'd consider it for photo editing. It really only needs to have the workspace itself, everything else (tool selection etc.) can live on the other monitor while I'm editing
