When getting a new PC, would you get Windows 7 or 8.1?

SpagettiNinja

Im sure this has been asked before, but what the heck. I am going to get a new PC soon, and i was wondering. I know Windows 7 works, and it probably will be supported for a long time. Is it worth to get Windows 8.1? It is newer, probably has some more features and stuff, and for all i know, basically pretty much the same as 7. So what would you do? Would you go for 8.1 or 7?

If you have a win7 key i would say win7 But it wont be supported for a long time from now(January 2015) So id say win8 since you can upgrade it to win10 when it is out from the Beta.

Although most people think Windows 7 is a better OS for gaming, I think that it would be better to get Windows 8.1, But whatever you do, DO NOT GET Windows 8 as it will really let you down. Also It'd be cheaper to upgrade to Windows 10; but I think that Windows 10 is going to fail like Windows 8 did, So maybe if Windows 10.1 comes out that'd be a good choice for an OS.

In a year it will be out of date. So if op rather not buy windows 8.1 and likely get a free upgrade to windows 10 sure go with 7.

As soon as windows 10 is out 7 will be very out of date and a year after windows 10 we should have dx12 games coming out.

So windows 7 is around 2 more years if you want to play games at best graphical settings with best perfomrance. Alot of games already run better on 8.1

What, which retard thinks windows 7 is better for gaming, 8 is alot better due to the under the hood upgrades from 7. Whats the let down with 8, are you thinking its differrent from 8.1? Cause the update to 8.1 is free. Windows 8 did not fail, there jist happens to be alot of people who don't know how to learn. "No start menu" people thought the start menu was the most retarded thing in the world.on release. Technology will move on, adapt or get left behind.

Windows 8 is alot better than window 7, I just never got to upgrading because there was no need. Upgrading isn't worth it, but buying windows 7 or downgrading to it is just pure idiocy.

You probably dont need more answers by now but maybe someone still cares...

I run windows 7 right now but only because I am too lazy to reinstall.

I would certainly get win 8 with a new pc. Maybe windows 8 is the living hell in its ui design but you could just get a small hack that gives you the win 7 menu back. I think that even thought the design team fucked up on win 8, everything else has improved a lot. This is overlooked by many people, because they only know about the new ui and hate it. I also really hate it and would not use win 8 with it, but since its really easy to get rid off I would certainly use win 8.1 :)

EDIT: What has improved? SSD compatibility and starting up is also a lot faster. Win 8.1 does not use as many resources as win7 etc.

( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
