Hello , I've been using Corsair H100i on my i7 4770k slightly OC'd to 4.2ghz , everything was fine for 2 months, stable without any temperature problems.(passed prime95 sfft) Lately I'm getting almost 100C on 2 out of 4 cores ,3rd core goes up to 94C and 4th stays around 80C while running games. Dropped down to 4.0 and its barely holding during 80%~ load. So far I tried resitting it, tightening screws and checked for any leaks. Should I consider my H100i busted and start looking for a new cpu cooler?  :(

Well first stop using prime95.

Then buy some MX-4 thermal paste and replace yours.

As enderman said, stop using prime, you could be damaging your cpu when you use it as it overvolts the shit out of haswell. Thermal compound replacement is a great idea, stock compound blows. MX-4 seems to be the best you can get. I dropped temps about 10c by using artic silver 5 for my h110 and mx-4 is better.

Well ,I had a tube of Gelid Solutions GC Extreme at home so I just used it instead of MX-4 (should be similar). What should I use to test it now instead of prime95? IntelBurnTest?

I use OCCT which runs Linpack.

The compound that comes with a cooler may not be the "best" but it's adequate.

As I said I have personally dropped 10c and I am not the only person I know that had similiar results. I used to hit 86c during an intel burn test now I am maxing out at 75c during the same duration of test with arctic silver 5. I am sure I would shave a degree or two with some mx 4

i have the i5 4690k overclocked to 4.5 on a h100i, running for about a month now with barely a temp change which sits around 61c stable. i check my temps once a week or so just to make sure nothing is going wrong using cinebench (probably not the best) if thermal paste doesnt work check the corsair software on pump usage and speeds. could be something is dialed really low or something was set wrong, id also check your volts if ur not doing a manual overclock.

I just tested it with OCCT , 3x 12 min test , on 4.0 , 4.2 , 4.4 , memory on 90% , 1min idle period at the beginning and the end.

4.0 Test completed , core 0/1 got to 81C core 2 78C core 3 67C

4.2 Test completed , core 0/1 got to 84C (barely finished) core 2 82C core 3 71C

4.4 Test failed after 2 min core 0/1 reached 85C and test was automatically stopped

4.4 2nd test without safety mechanism stopped after 2min58sec core 0/1 reached 101C

CPUTIN didn't go over 27C

Checked and monitored pump during tests, everything was set properly and worked as intended according to Corsair Link.
