So my nearby computer hardware retailer has released there sales for Black Friday and I saw a sale for a Labtop at same price as the self built computer that I was originally planning to do.
Obviously it's better and in terms of price to performance building a PC would be cheaper however the objective in this purchase isn't to Game or anything.

Main Objective is to have something for my mother to use to watch movies, that's all, and some browsing like checking random stuff, no games no nothing besides movies & daily browsing.

Which would you choose?

Won't this like suck in res as you don't have a dedicated GPU. I am not sure maybe the others know this as I never bother checking the resolution when I reinstalled windows as I just install GPU drivers asap.

@EpicAdom the thing is that she loves watching dramas, she stays at home since myself and brothers work to pay everything now so she can rest easy, however she has the tendency to watch it late.... Which I think a labtop might be good cause my step father will have to deal with a bright light pass 3am lol

@Rebelattack onboard would be fine since it's all about Asian dramas really. She's using a Intel Celeron and onboard gpu right now, surprisingly she hasn't raged at the computer since it stops working every 5 seconds xD

WIth the laptop she could just hook it up to the TV via HDMI if she wants to watch on the TV and then unplug it to watch elsewhere.

It should be fine for 720p video. 1080p streaming would probably be ok too.

Normally I would say build your mom a computer since its way cheaper for the same stuff and its easy to upgrade if needed. But in this case I know how parents can be they are hyped about useless stuff (really useless stuff) and they want to show it off to their friends. so I would suggest a laptop but with hdmi or display port depends on screen your going to hook it up with when watching movies. because old people want to sit on the couch watching movies not on a chair in front of the computer. (sorry for using the word old but uhm couldnt come up with another word)

Beneath this mask there is an idea, and ideas are bulletproof.

I personally would go with the laptop for my mother but that is because she refuses to let me build her a pc because she is hell bent she wants that warranty and for someone older it would probably be better to just get a prebuilt laptop, because ill forwarn you of what will happen if the one you build has issues they will get pissed and say you messed up somewhere in the build when it was actually their fault. And plus the 2 year extended warranty for only $67 is well worth not having the headaches later on down the road.

Ill put it to you like this I offered to build my mother a PC free of charge for her i pay for everything it was going to run me $475 to build and she told me NO she wants the $1150 HP from bestbuy because it comes with a 3 year warranty. And the funny thing is the PC I was going to build her had 3x the performance of that HP laptop but she would rather fork out an additional $600 just so she has the worry free warranty. So I ended up just giving her $450 to help pay for that ridiculously expensive laptop and now a year later its having issues and HP wont warranty it since she didnt dust it properly.
