  1. I've just done the latest Windows update but the little thing in the tray prompting me to reserve win 10 didn't show up. What's going on?
  2. Can you link me to the website for that mousepad? It's so simple and post-modern. I love it. I'm going to get one. You have good taste, bro.
  3. Do you know how much pushing an EQ on a signal degrades sound quality? It's bad enough that you're playing from your onboard sound. If it doesn't sound good with a flat EQ, it's crap, and you shouldn't try to put a bandaid on the situation by trying to make a pretty EQ curve to "cure" bright sound from garbage headphones. JM2C
  4. You want old people to scan documents? And run a wireless printer? What if the link goes down? You're asking too much. You want a simple laserjet compact unit that just PRINTS in black and white and the only button on it is to clear a paper jam. Xerox Phaser is a good unit to go with. Cheap and cheerful. Don't get into scanning with old people they'll just call you every time they attempt to scan something and fuck it up. Most old ppl are too stupid to use tech.
  5. What is your source? That's the most important question. If it's onboard audio, what codec is it? Is there a headphone amp on your motherboard? Do you have a sound card? DAC? Make and model? Buying expensive headphones to hook directly to your computer, is, unless you have an audiophile grade soundcard or a DAC (ie, Xonar STX/STX2/rPAC/Dragonfly, etc) and ideally, an amp, is pointless. You won't hear the headphones the way they were meant to be heard unless you put an equal amount of money into an amp/dac solution. A good idea is the Modi/magni combo from schiit. That'll run you $200 USD. Or you can get an ARCAM rPAC for $240 USD. Nice little British unit with DAC/amp in one box.
  6. LOL. No. First, my current gaming PC is about as powerful anyways, second, if you give me a machine, it's none of your business what I use it for. It's MINE.
  7. That's the best motherboard on that platform so you can't go wrong with it.
  8. You're looking at garbage boards. Get an ASRock H97 Pro 4. Trust me. I know what I'm talking about. All the plebs who posted before me know nothing. Get an i5 4460. It's not much more than the 4440 and you get a little boost in speed. The best chip for you, budget and capability wise is the Xeon 1231v3 which is $230 vs the cheap i5's at $180 but it's a hyperthreaded quad core so is essentially an i7. It has no onboard graphics enabled though.
  9. ASRock Z97 Extreme6 is in your budget. No competition. The other two boards that have been suggested are trash by comparison.
  10. What a derp question. It always does.
  11. Poor pleb... You think headphones by 50 cent and Dr Dre are actually good. LOL. Pick up a pair of ATH m40X they should be about $120. They will murder those headphones you picked. REAL headphones are made by Audeze, Sennheiser, Grado, Behringer, AudioTechnica, etc. Apple, Beats, 50 Cent, Razer, Steelseries, ASUS, Kingston, etc all make garbage. The only good pleb audio out there is Logitech Ultimate Ears but they are mediocre by comparison to real headphones. Maybe you have a crap ear and you will actually think beats sound better than real headphones. I don't know. If you do, I feel sorry for you.
  12. Why are you looking at a machine with a 3 series CPU? You should be looking at a Core M or celeron/pentium/i3/i5/i7 5XXX CPU not a 3XXX. That's 3 years old. You don't want that. I'd suggest getting a Core M laptop personally. They can run fanless, cool, and have exceptional battery life. More than enough power for basic use.
  13. Have you ever seen the inside of a computer? The optical drive is encased in a metallic casing. Only the bezel is plastic. OP- put a piece of electrical tape between the optical drive and the motherboard.
  14. High end headphones+ integrated audio= disappointment every time. I'm tired of getting flamed by tards in this section so I won't say much but I'd use a DAC/AMP if I were you.
  15. 1000W amps are either garbage, or way too powerful for home use. When you see a "1000W RMS home theater system", it's not actually 1000W in any terms that you could listen to. They take that 1000W at like 5% THD which is totally unrealistic and those ratings are always "peak" ratings and not sustained ratings. If you were feeding 1000W from a proper quality amp to proper quality speakers, you'd be blaring the music so loud that you'd shake your house to the ground. That would be a PA system or an actual night club system. You aren't going to find what you're looking for unless you buy used. I'd suggest that you actually do not buy a seperate amp and speakers on your budget and that instead you look into higher end powered speakers. KEF makes speakers called X300A. They are 150W Bi-amped (A/B class) and have an internal DAC. They connect to a source via USB or you can use a standard 1/8th inch/3.5mm TRS (headphone jack) plug to bypass the DAC if you have a superior D/A solution available. They run about $700 Canadian so that would be about 380GBP and around what you want to spend all in. I have the non powered version of those speakers (KEF Q300) hooked up to a Marantz amp and they sound VERY good. Very warm, clear, detailed and dynamic sound. They go plenty loud but don't go nuts or you could blow them.
