Xbone and PS4 killer builds

Everyone is forgetting windows.

the consoles come with system software.

Good luck with finding a build better than a PS4 for the same price with windows.

Nope, you need XBL or PS+ to play multiplayer, right? So instead of buying those will change that on buying an OS or simply use Linux as an OS.

Seriously, why on earth would you use Linux as your gaming OS? You need XBL or PS+ for online, not to just play the games at all.

Old shit no one cares about but me.

Okay, if you say so...

I don't need to consider windows in the build. Most colleges where I'm from give out windows copies to their students and most of my friends are studying currently.

Exactly, so every build here fails the "PS4/Xbox One killer" part of the title.

The key word is upgradability

Okay, if you say so...

No, really, how many games are there on Linux compared to Windows? I wouldn't even bother with Linux gaming at this time.

You can play PS4 games offline without paying for PS+, so the OS is preinstalled on the system.

But that's not part of everyone's situation.

Why did this turn out to be a debate? Sorry that we don't have enough money to beat a PS4, sorry that we're poor, sorry that we can't build a $1500 gaming PC and sorry that we can't get into PC gaming just because we're poor. Anything else that you wanted us to say?

When did people start to say that? We are comparing price to performance. ATM a console wins, that is the general census. You can still get into PC gaming for a 400-500 dollar price range. Your experience might not be better than the newly released consoles though. Start with a decent CPU so you only have to upgrade your GPU later on for a noticeable improvement.

You kind of have to remember that a pc can do a lot more stuff than game, so you definately pay at least 700 to get a really good experience, at this price for the tower and peripherals you get a great gaming experience as good as a ps4 and an xbox but also a fully fledged pc. When buying a gaming pc you might as well go for quality rather than skimping on things that will make the experience better so i dont really think there is much point in paying 400 for a tower and peripherals because you end up with a bad pc experience that is really only the same as a console experience, just my thoughts.

My specs:Fractal Define R4, i5 2550k, Asus GTX 560ti 2GB, Samsung 840 pro 120GB SSD, 16GB Corsair Vengeance RAM ,Seagate Barracuda 2TB, Corsair 600w PSU

no OS, Keyboard, or mouse. I'd rather get a PS4 if you have a budget this small.

Read the earlier posts. It's quite easy to get a free os.

Keyboard/mouse. I've gotten several sets of these and they are great for the price: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/logitech-keyboard-920002714

I have and most people are not in college and don't get a free OS from their school. So that shouldn't be an option when deciding on building a computer. I know my college didn't even offer that anyways. So it is going to cost at least another $100 on top of that for a full pc. Like I said I'd rather a PS4 at this price range.

I hardly consider Linux an option for gaming at all. You have TF2 and counter strike (I think). that about sums it up really.

Wasn't referring to Linux. Was referring to Windows.

A Celeron isn't gonna cut it.

and yeah I know he was referring to windows, but besides the college thing (which not everyone has available to them), the only free OS worth mentioning is Linux, and its not gaming worthy.

Show me how the Celeron won't "cut it". It will still do better than a PS4. By the same standards, the PS4 wouldn't "cut it".

What is better, a Celeron or 2 A8s taped onto eachother.

The A8s.
