Amazingly gorgeous picture, they were showing an under the sea coral life demo.  My girlfriend had to nudge me because I became so engrossed in it.  I'm such a sucker for fidelity.

I've seen the 84" in person but I wish they would bring that design down to the 55-60" size and I'd be happy to pay $5-6K for it.

And the picture was amazing!

Personally wait 2 years for the tech to improve, tv's great but it's a first gen always wait til the 2nd or 3rd gen before purchasing.

Ah yes, that's their newer one which is what started this thread.  Their first 4K TV was £25,000 and their second one - the one you posted - is £4,000 so that's an 84% reduction in price.  If that price reduction continues then their next 4K TV would be £640!  I highly doubt that would happen though, considering their best 1080p TV is £2,400 and second best is £1,800.  £4,000 seems very reasonable for a 4K TV from Sony though and if it comes anywhere near £3,000 or even £3,500 I expect a lot more people would be willing to buy one.

EDIT: I just saw the price in that link you posted and that's a great price for it!  $5,000USD is about £3,300 which seems more than reasonable.

wow why do you have the need for 4k is overly priced at the moment

It's as bit expensive at the moment but not by much compared to top-end TVs.  Are you asking why people want 4K resolution displays?  Give it another year and Sony's 4K displays will be reasonably priced if they continue with the way they are currently.

4K can get cheaper and cheap all it likes but if you don't have the latest, fastest cpu and quad sli and if there is no content for it well who really cares about 4k   :P

I do.

And a GTX 780 would be able to push 4K content. Not easily, but it could. SLI 780's can game at 4K with better than console graphics. I've seen plenty of youtube videos benchmarking these things to realize this.

No thanks. I've seen the difference between a top of the line sony bravia tv and a cheap 32" tv and the difference is night and day with how the picture looks. That TV while being cheap is probably not worth it in how it upscales and the picture it produces.

Big brand TV's are overpriced atm but I wouldn't cheap out on something like a TV.

From what I've seen from Youtube videos reviewing that Seiki 4K TV, the only downside is HDMI which can only handle 4K at 30FPS.

Otherwise, it's a great TV (when you have 4K content for it at least, anything will look like crap upscaled).

that is very true wait a few years and then buy one but using a tv for a computer is a bad idea to begin with

I think towards the holiday season the prices for most 4k TVs will be 1000-1500USD, so they can actually sell some units during the spending season, and 4k monitors will still be an emerging market (around 5000USD).

I highly doubt they'll be that cheap.  Maybe in a few years but I expect 4K TVs will still be above £2500 for the next year.

Yes I've seen that but it's made by Seiki, not quite as good as Sony or Samsung or any other of the big, reliable companies.  That Seiki TV is only 30Hz at 4K resolution.  The bigger guys will compete with each other, not small retailers.

True, HDMI 2.0 should be alright for 4K resolution as well but still not as good as DP 1.2.

HDMI 2.0 is still unreleased. Should come with HD 9000 series.
