Graphics card question

Hey guys, I'm trying to decide between a R9 270 and a 280. There is about a 40 dollar price gap. If I overclock the 270 can I get equivaloent performance to the 280? Thanks guys.

No you can't get to a 280 Oc'ing a 270, for that gap go for the 280.

You can overclock a 270 to 270x levels, but not 280.

where are you shopping? a 280 you can get for $164 after rebate at newegg. ( 280 not 280x ) much better than the 270's. They even have one (some) with 2 6pin power connectors whereas some are 6x8.

The r9 280 has much more superior performance in most games.

(I have never tested these parts, and I can therefore never guarantee no faults.)

I'm not a huge gamer though so I thought I wouldn't get too expensive of a graphics card or too good of one.
