When light shines on this prototype memory device, it produces voltages in that make it possible to read out the information in the 16-cell array of digital bits.

Sounds cool, but impractical right now. 10 micrometres is way too big.

Hopefully in a few years, we'll have advanced versions of this running in regular PC's.

If these new PC things get implemented soon, we're going to be seeing some crazy crap.

 

IE: Nvidia talked about stacking vram on gpu's and getting like 1tb/s bandwidth or some crap, i wonder if they could do the same with CPU's and other parts :o

More speed is awesome, cant help but get excited about the coming tech in the next 10 years, the last month or so has been story after story of x10 x100 speed increases in one area after the next
