So, my S3 seems to be approach the end of its lifetime. It's getting really laggy and has quite some impact on its body(heck, even the SAMSUNG letter on the back fell off).

Considering Black Friday is right around the corner, that's also a chance to replace my kind of aging phone.

So far I've thought of 3 options :

  • LG G3
  • Nexus 5
  • Note 3

Keep in mind that I like big screens.

So...are there any problems with any of these phones?Which do you think is better?

I'm really fond of the G3.Are there any problems with it?

Note 3 imo. Just install CyanogenMod on it (or any other ROM on it). The G3 doesn't have good battery life due to Snapdragon 801 + QHD screen. Plus if you stay on TouchWiz, you get S Pen functionality. There are workarounds for the S Pen on CM though.

Nexus is quite nice as well, for the price.

I'd go with the Nexus 5 to be honest. You'll get much faster updates, and it's still a very capable device for the money.

Now that said, how much would the G3 be costing you? It's a nice device. Two of my friends have it and they're pretty in love with it. The screen is a little on the cool side, but other than that it's been a tank.

Don't drop it though. One's already had to pay for a screen replacement.

If you like big screens is the Huawei Ascend Mate7 available where you are? It's a damn fine device and smaller than the Nexus 6.

The Note 3 wouldn't be bad, but updates will be few and far between, and TouchWiz.

Battery life actually isn't that bad. You still get pretty good screen on time.

USD?

That's expensive. Unless you're comparing 32gb models.

If you consume a LOT of content...I'd go for the G3. You can expand via microSD. That's probably the only real plus I'd say it has. Other than the larger screen and better camera.

I'm aware. So what is that, I'm hoping not Euro. That'd be insanely high priced.

16GB

We have no Play Store in Romania.

At launch(the first 1-2 months), the Nexus 5 was like $600.

Ouch, gotcha.

If the 32gb model is only that much I'd probably go with that. I like the size of the Nexus a little more than the G3 though so I am a little biased.

nexus 5 of course! samsung has it's drowbacks, for example it's amdoled display has some serious issues, it has burn in screen problems like old CRT had. It's colors does not feel real, it's more like paint. and i really suggest you stock android. i have nexus 4 and i love nexus phones.

OP you have SGSIII i have nexus 4 same aged phones but i got official lolipop :) that's why i love nexus phones, fastest updates, no lag, fastest system, stock!

Computer users fall into two groups:
those that do backups
those that have never had a hard drive fail.

Yeah...I'm stuck on Jellybean because even though one of the main focuses of kitkat was to run on phones with really low RAM, it is somehow too much for my S3 .

I think if you get the ROM for the Note 3 you get the drivers for the S Pen too. You'll just need to figure out how to make use of it since you won't get any of Samsung's Touchwiz S Pen features.
