So I'm setting up a racing simulator, well I've been trying to anyway. I keep getting distracted by other projects and work so it's been a while since I started lol.

Here's what I have so far:

  • GT OMEGA Pro Racing Supreme

GT%20Omega%20PRO%20Racing%20Simulator%20

Here's what I've got coming in the post:

  • 3x Asus VN247H 24" Super Narrow Bezel LED Monitors
  • T500 RS Racing Wheel
  • Thrustmaster TH8 RS Gearbox Shifter

And other items I'm hoping to get for the setup:

  • A Buttkicker Gamer 2
  • A Corsair K65 & M65
  • Oculus Rift

This is where a massive amount of indecision comes in..

What rig do I use/build? I have a GTX670 but kinda need it elsewhere. I'm thinking of putting together a dedicated driving rig just for this setup, but i'm really not sure yet. Then I need a good analog headset. I may use my Siberia V2s but I'm not sure. I want a great surround headset whilst using analog so I can still use the buttkicker.

Anyway that's where my heads at now. Alot of work to do but it has to be done over the next 2 weeks or so, or I'll end up leaving it unfinished for another few months and it's a shame to have the kit just sat there unused.

I'd love to know your thoughts :)

I am going to be following this for sure. I'm all into Racing games, I have a DFGT myself. This sounds like it's going to be good. Can you tell us how the Buttkicker 2 feels like as you're playing? :) That is if you get one. How about some Fanatec Clubsport Pedals? They're considered the best pedals you can get.

Setup: i5 4670k @ 4.2 Ghz, Corsair H100i Cooler, Corsair Vengeance Pro 16GB Ram @ 1600 Mhz, MSI Z87-GD65 Motherboard, Corsair GS700 2013 edition PSU, MSI GTX 770 Lightning, Samsung EVO 120 SSD + 2TB&1TB Seagate Barracudas, BenQ XL2411T Monitor, Sennheiser HD 598 Headphones + AntLion ModMic 4.0

I've never actually used a racing simulator before, so this is all new to me.

I have heard that the Fanatec Clubsport Pedals are the best that you can get at a reasonable price, however I think I'm just going to stick with the Thrustmaster for a bit and see how I get on.

I am very likely to get the buttkicker, if not just try to try it out, I'll probably end up doing a review on it, but either way I'll let you know :)

Maybe you should find one to try out. There's likely a knowledgeable person nearby each racing simulator.

Experience also helps.

I only just bought the Thrustmaster set, so I don't feel that there is any need for me to replace them, until I've got the entire simulator set up and I've had a chance to try out the stock ones.

So just a quick update:

Everything arrived and I've set it up temporarily to have a play!

I have to say having never used a steering wheel and pedals before in a game, I think that it's going to take quite a while for me to get use to it. I just kind of assumed that as I can play driving games with a controller and as I know how to drive in real life, that would combine and I'd instantly pick up playing with the wheels and pedals. It's still fun though and the force feedback on full is great exercise lol.

Everything still does need configuring properly, but the rig attached to it atm isn't mine, so I do still need to build a more powerful PC than my current one, before i can get a chance to really set everything up.

And I have to say the monitors are really great, even though they're not the most expensive.

The room is a mess at the moment, but after a major tidy I'll post some pictures :)

Thats pretty awesome. I have been interested in doing something similar, but im a big car guy so if everything isn`t realistic its gunna bug me to no end. I have never found a setup where you could actually clutch and shift proper :(

What games are you playing? Ive kinda stopped playing racing games because all the newer titles don't have car customization, and that's a deal breaker for me.

Love to hear more and see those pictures!
