Corsair CX750M with R9 290x and FX 8320?

Go to solution Solved by VincentiusIV,

HHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAA 500-600 or 1000 watts??? i call total Bull****. I run this EXACT setup, and barely use 350 watts at 100% load with overclock. My psu is the rm750.

Hi, I'm using the Corsair CX750M and I threw a R9 290x in my system, and it worked fine and all, but later it died so I sent it back to Newegg. I started doing some PSU calculator tests and sites were saying to use between a 550-600w with a couple saying 1000. I didn't hear my PSU make sounds with the 290x in, but I didn't think it was worth ruling out.

System Specs
AMD FX-8320 Black Edition (Slight Overclock)
Sapphire Tri-X R9 290x
Corsair Vengeance 32gb 1866mhz DDR3
3 7200RPM HDD's
DVD Drive
Two 120mm LED fans, 3 standard 120mm fans, two high perf. 120mm fans, and a single 240mm fan
Biostar TA970 board
LED backlit keyboard, gaming mouse, Xbox One controller
ASUS Xonar 7.1 Channel Sound Card

Thanks!

Psu calculators are unreliable for the most part. The system would easily run off of a decent 550w. The cx750 is more than enough.

Lol yeah, the Newegg said I needed a 1200 watt PSU. Something tells me they're trying to sell expensive PSU's lol. I was fairly certain that was BS. But thanks for letting me know that, it helps a lot!
