I've seen loads of people get way better graphics cards and CPUs and such with $2000. I've only managed to fit in a 4790K and a GTX 970. Are there any things over priced? The only things i really want to keep are the motherboard and RAM.

get a cheaper motherboard and a cheaper PSU.

I'd assume he wants wifi.

@OP

most builds dont include monitors or peripherals

Unless youre doing some serious multitasking, 8gb of ram should be enough, and you can also save some money by going with a caviar blue/seagate barracuda over a black, and by going with an enthoo pro instead of the 750D.

You can lower the price by getting a different MoBo, and a decent 30$ WiFi card. Then unless you're doing serious editing, go with 8 GB of ram. The money that saves may get enough of a difference to be able to afford a 980.

Also use PCPartpicker.com. It's shows you prices from various sights. You may be able to find parts for cheaper on differnt sites.

Just remember: Random people on the internet ALWAYS know more than professionals, when someone's lying, AND can predict the future.

no and no :)

both have things that justify their price and the psu is great.

@op

Looks nice. May i ask what you are using it for?  :)

Yeah I guess but then theres also the wifi card route too.

That's stupid. You buy a motherboard thats cheaper plus a decent wifi card you end up saving only a few dollars.

That's a pretty decent system with some good deals. Every spot that you try to save money on you will have to go down in quality which isn't savings but compromises. If you can afford it I'd stick with that and be happy.

Sir William of Orange: Corsair 230T - Rebel Orange, 4690K, GA-97X SOC, 16gb Dom Plats 1866C9,  2 MX100 256gb, Seagate 2tb Desktop, EVGA Supernova 750-G2, Be Quiet! Dark Rock 3, DK 9008 keyboard, Pioneer BR drive. Yeah, on board graphics - deal with it!

@Deletive that's a major compromise, not savings. Yeah, everything on his list can be made cheaper, but not the same quality. Your Corsair is a joke compared to the EVGA G2. That ASUS board is losing quite a few features verses his, not just the Wi-Fi.

If you perceive honesty as rude then excuse me for not babying you along. That motherboard is mediocre at best and the wi-fi card is actually pretty good. I would suggest.

For the newegg price (the place from where he is obviously ordering) for $20-25 more you can get the wifi card with a much MUCH better motherboard.

I'm not even going to comment on that horrific PSU.

bump.

How have the 11 replies above not answered the question yet....

Yes, its overpriced and can easily be knocked down by picking equally powerful, more cost efficient, components.
