http://microsoft-news.com/intel-reveals-new-all-in-one-reference-design-comes-with-realsense-3d-camera/

It looks like Intel really is gunning for premium hardware and feature sets for its Core M processors to host dedicated circuits for, but what the Hell is with this design? It's wider than a 10-year-old's chest for crying out loud! It's also 20mm thick (implying that is one heavy battery, or the thing's reinforced with a steel chassis inside). It's literally a Windows 8 flatscreen television on a kickstand with tablet functionality. Isn't the point of a tablet to not take up a lot of space while serving basic needs?

I don't see this being practical for almost anyone.

The display is nice, and touch movements are very responsive, but it's an Intel demo video, so of course we should wait to see reviews, but what do we think of this reference design?

I'd probably say it's going to be targetted at families as a home PC that is capable of being tidied away and 'shared' by the family; most likely by the children, where they can take it to each respective rooms from where it is housed normally.

Great for board games like they showed and maybe a secondary monitor that goes where your keyboard usually does but to actually carry that thing around like thy showed no way.

I mean the board game thing I suppose is useful for some families, but yeah the weight and size of that thing make it totally impractical as a "tablet." I don't honestly know what Intel was thinking this time.

I have no plans to get one but i can see it's use for certain people.

e.g. propping it up on the coffee table/kitchen bench as in the video. I don't really see a problem in hauling it around if it's going to stay at home. Our old ipad gets daily use but never leaves the house.

I assume they're using it to show off the new processor.

i'm confused. how would that work? It's not a separate monitor so i'm not sure how you would play your xbox on it.

Since it's a big tablet It would be worth while to have hdmi input to plug in lets say a xbox and use it as a monitor. When I'm done i can just go back into tablet mod and us it as a PC.

It's a feature that might be ignored by some but extremely useful for others.

It's like the surface (that nobody bought) but bigger.

You can do the same with a TV by just changing the channel.

It may have an HDMI out but i'm not sure about and input? Can you do this with most all-in-one's (use it as a separate monitor)?

I don't think it's supposed to leave your house. Look at the examples in the video, they're all in 1 home.
