I suppose I should've asked. Is efficiency important to you? Is modular important to you?

What kind of graphics card do you have? 750W is pretty much an overkill if you just have single card.

I'd get the Corsair power supply simply because EVGA's overall line of PSU's aren't that great and there flagship 1500W is rubbish.

Here is a pretty good wattage calculator if you are still unsure.

http://www.extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp

The thing you want to consider is that most PSUs work most efficiently once you get past 50% load and gradually taper off once you approach 100% load, in general. So for a 750 watt PSU, you would want to use at least 375 watts of power for efficiency.

This is where 80 Plus ratings become useful. For a PSU to be 80 Plus rated, it needs to be using at least 80% of the power being drawn form the wall at 20%, 50% and 100% load. 80 Plus bronze, silver, etc. require even higher percentages. Here is a table showing them:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/80_plus#Efficiency_level_certifications

You should definitely take this into consideration if efficiency is important to you. 80 Plus certified PSUs cost more, but save some money in the long run by wasting less power.

Hope this was helpful.

May I recommend the Corsair CX750M (http://ncix.com/products/?sku=78574&vpn=CP-9020061-NA&manufacture=Corsair). It's modular, has good efficiency, and is under 100 when not even on sale. Most any Corsair power supplies would be fine. The AX and HX are the higher end ones, but any like I said, Corsair is an awesome brand in general.

Do i really need a 750w psu or is that way to overkill or is it sort of a "to be safe" idea?

You don't need a 750w PSU unless you are planning to run dual graphics cards. I d recommend a Seasonic MI2II 620w 80 Plus Bronze PSU.

http://ncix.com/products/?sku=52176&vpn=M12II%20620&manufacture=Seasonic%20Electronics.

Price match to newegg.ca and you'll be good to go.

Seasonic PSU's are the best, and this is semi modular. I use this in my build, and its very quiet as well. (same GPU as you)

Ideally, you want your max load to be around 60% of the PSU's maximum Wattage.

Same thing really, I still stand by my Seasonic MI2II recommendation though. Seasonic PSU's are legendary. NOTE: XFX and Corsair PSUs are built by Seasonic.

@mgsstar, trust me, 700W is an overkill. My current system has 2 6950 with OCed 1090T and it's peak power consumption is 527W which is nothing.
