Hyper 212 is fine for overclocking as long as you're not going balls to the wall with your voltages.

Why not just get a Corsair H100i for that price?

NH-D14 is great.

What case? Clearance could be an issue.

In Newzealand the H100i is considerably more expensive than the Noctua D14.

PS: OP, the Hyper 212 EVO will be plenty for any light to mid overclocking but if you want a really quiet system and want to overclock the balls off that processor then the Noctua D14 is what you want.

My Current Build:

Intel i5 3570K @ 4.4GHz 1.11V, Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO, Asrock Z77 Extreme4, Corsair Vengeance 8GB 1600MHz, Samsung 840 EVO 250GB, Asus GTX 760 DCII Overclocked, Corsair CX600M

Hypothetically speaking with the Hyper 212 EVO, what do you think I could overclock the 4690k to?

NZXT S340 or NZXT H series

S340 will fit with 1mm to spare, every member of the H series except the H230 can also fit it with varying amounts of clearance.

It really depends on how well the processor you received overclocks but personally on my i5 3570K (Pretty similar to the 4690K) I am able to reach 4.4GHz fairly easily from the stock 3.4GHz with the Hyper 212 EVO.

OK thanks, I just don't like that retention plate, where you have to fiddle with it. Did you use the provided thermal grease? It's really confusing when I get different advice from people, I asked the retailer selling the Hyper 212 EVO and they said it wouldn't be good for overclocking...

The mounting system on mine is actually a little screwed up because I forgot to screw the cooler back on in a cross pattern which ended up stripping one of the screws so ya the retention plate mounting system kind of annoys me :P but yes, I did use the included thermal grease and with acceptable fan speeds my CPU never goes over 70C at full load :)

What about the Hyper 212 EVO?

1mm shorter (159mm vs 160mm) than the NH-D14. Still too big for the H230 (158mm max).

You should be shooting for at least 4.2ghz. Many people are running the 4690k at ~4.4ghz with the 212 Evo.
