Hi there,

With my new PC (custom built), my CPU is about 45º C (113º f) just while in BIOS. Is this normal?

I do live in Australia and it's really hot down here (and we're upside down so maybe that messes up airflow), so maybe that could be the reason it is at 45º C.

I do plan on getting liquid cooling btw.

The BIOS reading is always hotter than the actual temperature.

Roughly how much hotter? I'm on BIOS F4 on a gigabyte mobo

I should clarify by saying your CPU is running at a more utilized state in the BIOS (aka not idle).

It is very normal and if you plan to water it, you shouldn't worry about anything. If you play and work and the temps are 60-65.. also that is normal.

The blood on to your heart start pumping faster when you notice me.

But is ok.

Judge me for my nickname, my avatar and for the low amounts of posts I have. I will keep your heart beat raised.

That's fine. I'm also in Aus and my cpu runs at about 40 on idle, then 70'ish under load, and that's with an OC'd G3258. It's really the lead temps you need to worry about. Plus, with the crazy heat we've had recently, 45 is perfectly reasonable.

CPU- 4690k @4.5ghz / 1.3v    Mobo- Asus Maximus VI Gene   RAM- 12GB GSkill Assorted 1600mhz   GPU- ASUS GTX 760 DCUII-OC

Storage- 1TB 7200rpm WD Blue + Kingston SSDNow 240GB   PSU- Silverstone Strider ST75F-P

exactly what is the temperature where you live or more specifically in your room.

you shouldn't worry too much about the idle/near idle temperature.

both high load and high idle temp would indicate that something is wrong.

What you really want to look at is the temp under load.

45 is abit on the high side which makes me wonder what your load temp is,

what cooler you are using and what cpu you have, details mandatory to make

a judgement :P. If it's 30+ degrees celsius inside, 45 might not be half bad.

It's a hyper 212x, but it's probably just because it's so hot where I live and in my room

Maybe. Load temps would show that better. It could be also bad mount.

That temperature is about what my computer has in idle and yes its completely normal if your using a stock cooler, I'm using the stock cooler on my i5 4440 and getting temps that bottom out at about the 450C and only go to 590C at full load, and that was just today with the ambient temp at 340C and playing BF4. (I live in Aus as well :P ).
