I'm trying to dual boot win 7 and 10. I downloaded the win 10 tech preview from Microsoft as an iso, but the win 7 usb/dvd tool says it's not a valid iso... What can I do?

Well actually you also need the drive formatted either in NTFS or FAT32, I don't remember, which one, lemme check.

EDIT: I'm pretty certain it's FAT32.

Any unknown button should be pressed even number of times.

@Speedbird @Zeke im also 99% sure that I have to have it fat32. I went ahead and did that, but if im going to skip the win7 usb tool (third different time ive tried to use this shoddy tool) dont I need to use an admin CMD prompt and use diskpart or sometyhing like that?

Works for anything. Just select 'unsupported ISO' in the dropdown. Don't worry about the 'unsupported' part, it will work fine.

@Zeke @Speedbird so the moving everything over after a format did not work. As was hypothesized the mbr did dot take. So I'll try that thing you suggested speed.

Do you have anything installed on your flash drive? Maybe Windows is using reading or writing something to the drive? Certain flash drives also come with utilities and apps pre-installed, make sure those are completely removed and uninstalled.

Before using Rufus also try to format your drive to FAT32.

Yup sir, you were right, apparently I've used a drive with a leftover MBR from a W7 installer when I did that. Oh well, the more you know.
