The criteria for becoming a member of staff, as far as I've heard in stories told throughout history, are incredibly specific and would fit but a few incredibly unique characters.

 

1. You need to have 13 toes, out of which 3 were previously fingers severed in combat with a wild and ferocious hedgehog, then sewn onto your feet to save them. The fingers where then left for an unknown reason, and became toes.

2. Your middle name has to be either Marie or Simon, and you need to have been born between the hours of 9am to 11am on a Wednesday.

3. You need to hold between two and four master's degrees in either: Ecology, Astronomy, Gastronomy or Zoology.

4. You need to be balding, but to constantly cover it up using a wig; None may know that you are balding.

5. You need to have met a traveling samurai while visiting your grandparents in the Amazon forests, where they lived in a 2.5-story villa, with a splendid view of a great river.

6. From before mentioned samurai, you need to have been given at least one of a few medallions, said to have been passed on to worthy strangers since the time of the Vikings' raids.

 

If you do not meet all of these criteria, you may unfortunately never become staff—Or at least, that's what the legends tell.

TBH I think that you have to be helpful around here and when they need more staff I think they'll PM you if they think you'd be good for the job or something of that sort.

That's the thing. You NEVER ask in public, send something to the mods, or look around and see if there is some sort of mod application form, but NEVER ask in public. 100% the fastest way to NEVER be a mod.

If you're referring to LMG staff, Linus does videos when he's hiring detailing what he needs.

 

If you mean forum staff, obviously the most active and helpful individuals make moderator. That said, we have a huge user base and there are so many active and helpful members that it would make more sense to tell you how not to be picked for moderator.

 

Ways to not make moderator:

- Spam posts purely for the sake of a high post count (carries no bearing whatsoever in our eyes; I've been a mod since the inception of the forum and my count is pretty low).

- Break the CoC (might not be a huge deal depending on what you do - people do mature and change, and people do make mistakes).

- Skirt the rules of the CoC (arguing technicalities is a surefire way to never ever get mod, and possibly get banned - common sense rules the day).

- Start disputes in topics.

- Have an aggressive demeanour when posting. 

- Have low quality posts (see the first point).

 

Common sense rules the day. To those members that don't do the above, are active and are helpful, we love you guys and if we have vacancies you're always in our sights!
