GTX 970 is enough. Assuming no bottleneck at all you got about 90fps average on ultra in BF4. Only crysis 3/Metro: Last light and the likes will push it too hard for 60fps

The 980 would be more future proof for your standard, though the 970 is cheaper and can be overclocked to be close to a stock 980.

Probably yeah. I with this OC I get that about 90 fps average by the way, not with stock

970 for gaming @1080p.980 for higher resolutions greater than 1080P.

 

I agree. For 1080P gaming a GTX 970 is enough. It should run all the current and upcoming games just fine, especially if you overclock it.

If you want to be a little bit more future proof and maybe play on higher resolutions i would go for the GTX 980.
