Is 4GB enough or do I need to upgrade my RAM?

Hey. With AC unity coming out along with a lot of other games I see that it says that they require 8GB of ram. Is this true or completely bullsh*t considering how bad game developers have been with making a realistic system requirements?
I usually never multitask, when I play games I close all other programs (no, i'm not that kind of person that has 29875 background services, I keep my windows clean) except Skype from time to time.

I'm kind off on a tight budget this month, that's why i'm asking before I go out and buy and new pair of sticks. Help would be appreciated

regards.

Can you list the rest of your setup?, Motherboard, CPU and GPU and we have a better chance of helping you.

I'm pretty sure 8 Gb is recommneded, not required (yup, 6 is required, although I think that's bullshit). Still, 8 Gb is a golden standard now, so I'd upgrade regardless of playing AC or not.

Any unknown button should be pressed even number of times.

Well, 8GB isn't really required, but would be much better, so programs could use more and run faster... (for example BF4 takes as much memory as it can, depending on how much do you have...)

rig: i7 4770k @4.1Ghz (delidded), Corsair Vengeance 8GB 1600Mhz, ROG Maximus VI Hero, Noctua NH-D14, EVGA GTX980SC, Samsung 850 EVO 500GB, Corsair SF600, self-built wooden Case, CoolerMaster QuickFire TK, Logitech G502, Blue Yeti, BenQ GW2760HS

Nice rig!, i would advice you to get whatever 8gb kit that is supported by your motherboard, and overclock the CPU a bit if you havent already as that CPU is a really good one and it should run like a dream!. ( and since you already have fitted a aftermarket cooler it should stay cool as well. )

Awsome build :)

I'd suggest you pick up another stick of 4GB RAM - if the timings and frequency are the same, you're golden.

I think 8GB is where you should be at, but then again my laptop runs 4GB ram with no issues.

You should be at 8gb by now. It's not a matter of bad coding, it's a matter of some games being massive in scale and needing more memory (skyrim, minecraft, bf4, etc.)

Skyrim/BF4 run fine on 4GB.

On what settings? Skyrim modded or unmodded?

Skyrim with mods.

Find that extremely hard to believe. Mine with mods runs well over 4gb of ram. Then again it's modding so one person experience =/= to another's.
