I went to uni, they did sell laptops with excellent prices and free licenses, but free ones is way past that. Then again tuition in this country is reasonably low.

The high school I used to go to handed out "free" Dell Precision laptops. They weren't really free but the price was down from 3000 dollars to 200 dollars so they were pretty much free. It's a popular thing to do for a lot of technical high schools here.

The advantages of having a school funded by Microsoft i guess. there nice but just for the school year and you know the whole blockage of everything that's fun, which is understandable.

My uni still uses CRT monitors, windows xp, some 2000's computers and doesn't have cloud service. So yeah, no such things for us.

High school? Dang.

The only time I've heard of this is either with very specific programs, or, a for-profit school like ITT Tech.

I'm living at TamilNadu, India. One Political party announced that If they won election then every student who is studying High school will get laptop. And they won. They gave laptops.

Lenovo B460E

Acer E1-431

HP Pavilion G4

HCL Entry level

All the laptops were configured with Pentium Dual Core (mixed generations), 2GB RAM, 160GB or 250GB HDD, but no Wi-Fi and DVD Burner!

Anyway they gave us pretty nice configuration. But the build quality was some what good.

You know they are giving it for free. So its like that! :)

Intel DH61WW - Corsair® Value Select 4GBx1 DDR3 1600 MHz - Antec BP-300P PSU

I got my hopes up with promises of free macbook pros for all students. Of course the school never got the money for that. We had some pretty kickass iMacs for video editing/3D rendering though.

Our video teacher only allows us to use macs for editing which inst very good because there are 35 kids in that class and 10 macs we can use, which i think is kind of a shame because we have these laptops and were not putting them to good enough use.

They give a Samsung Chromebook 2 to every student in my school, Although you can't take it home unless you pay a $50 deposit.

we dont have a deposit but if you lose the pen that comes with the pc its a 60 dollar fine. plus you really need that pen for math and such.
