Light Gaming rig for a girl

acolombo

1. Budget & Location
The budget is around € 300-350, so I think it could be around US $ 400, but I already have a GPU, I will use my old HD7750

2. Aim
The system is gonna be used for Web browsing, Facebook, Office and a bit of Light Gaming, with not many performance expectations... The games will probably be The Sims 4 and something similar.

3. Monitors
Already have 1 Monitor, resolution 1680 x 1050

4. Peripherals
I don't need any. I don't need Windows either, I got it free from my university.

5. Why are you upgrading?
This computer is for the sister of my friend, he does have a gaming computer and she wants something "like that"...

She just needs to replace her 10 yo computer, with something that can run any game at a relatively low resolution, without any expectation. I can't get many parts from the old computer, the HDDs are IDE/PATA so I can't use them. It should have a sata DVD drive though.

We already choose a cheap case, it costs 31,80€, and she prefers to have more storage space than a fast SSD.

Thanks to everyone (:

Had to go a little bit over budget to fit everything in but this build should be perfect for any web browsing and even light to medium gaming with that 7750 :)

Motherboard: ASRock H97 PERFORMANCE ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  (€56.00 @ Amazon Italia)
Memory: Kingston Fury Black Series 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR3-1866 Memory  (€69.29 @ Amazon Italia)
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive  (€46.50 @ Amazon Italia)

PS: If you really need to save money you can go with 4GB of RAM instead but I HIGHLY suggest 8GB for better multitasking and so you don't have to upgrade from 4GB to 8GB in the near future.

I would get a pentium 3258 instead since it's a lot cheaper and I think a ssd could really boost the low end PC, but with the extra money she can maybe get a fancy mouse or keyboard....anyway my point is that I would get a pentium just thinking of the cost/ performance

I thought about that but the Pentium is only 40 Euros cheaper which would not leave enough room for any other substantial upgrades such as a SSD. Also the HyperThreading on the i3 will help a lot with multitasking :)

How about something in APU format? Would that be an option? It got little bit over budget but if you change the SSD to HDD. Then you save some money.

Not really necessary when he has a GPU then you can better spend it on a decent Intel which also has an integrated GPU.

This one is great :D  And why 1 stick ddr?

@topic

You might have consider going with a case that has a PSU in it would save you aroun 50 euro.

Preferably I would like to have picked 2x4GB to utilise dual channel but by getting 1x8GB stick I was able to save a couple of Euros for the OP :)

PS: As for going with a case that has a PSU I wouldn't suggest it since the PSU's that cases usually come with are low quality and won't last very long. You never want to go cheap on the PSU because if it fails it could damage all your other components as well.

There's a problem with partpicker, it isn't working very well with Amazon IT, for example the 56€ Motherboard isn't an H97, and the cheapest H97 is around 70€...

Anyway I think I'm going to go with the Pentium and this configuration:

Case  Case iTek ZEERO Midi-Tower USB3 Nero ATX € 31,80 € 31,80

Storage  Hard Disk Interno 3.5" Toshiba DT01ACA 1TB 7200RPM 32MB SATA3 € 48,40 € 48,40

PSU  Alimentatore Pc Modulare Corsair CX430M 430W 80+ Bronze ATX € 49,30 € 49,30

Motherboard  Scheda Madre MSI H97M-E35 Socket 1150 Intel H97 DDR3 USB3 MicroATX € 69,40 € 69,40

CPU  CPU Intel Pentium Dual-Core G3258 3.2GHz 3MB 22nm con GPU 58W Boxed € 61,10 € 61,10

Memory  RAM DDR3 Kingston Technology Fury Memory White PC-15000 1866MHz (1x8GB) CL10 Bianco € 71,30 € 71,30

Total € 331,30 ( It's already pretty expensive for her so it's better if I don't reach the budget limit of 350€ )

OS: Windows 10 - Kubuntu 15.10 - Mac OSX El Capitan  CPU: i7 4790 @ 4.00GHz  MOBO: AsRock H97M Pro4  RAM: 4x 8GB Kingston HyperX @ 1866MHz  GPU: VTX3D R9-280 X-Edition  CASE: iTek Spacebox w/ Arctic Fans  PSU: Corsair X750M  SSD: 250GB Samsung 840 Evo  HDD: 3TB Western Digital WD30EZRX  DISPLAY: 3x Acer P193W  MOUSE: 5$ Chinese  TOUCHPAD: Logitech T650 Touchpad  KEYBOARD: Perixx Px-5200 w/Mx-Blues

Yeah I agree, the PSU is one of the most important parts, it's better to spend a few bucks more for it, it's the only part I don't want to save money on...

If the prices on PCPartPicker aren't correct and are forcing you over budget then that Pentium system will be perfect for her uses, especially with your old 7750 :)
